Hailey Belluk Hunt

Hailey Belluk Hunt

November 27th, 1990 – September 2nd, 2022

In the wee hours of September 2nd, after a relentless fight, our Hailey passed away as a result of metastatic breast cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

Hailey was born November 27th, 1990 in Winnipeg, the youngest of three girls. She grew up attending Dieppe, Golden Gate, and graduating from Oak Park. She had gone on to build a beautiful family that she loved dearly.

Hailey was known for her kindness and thoughtful nature. She was always thinking of others, right up until her last few days in the hospital when she was organizing an ‘Oh Donut’ delivery for one of her amazing nurses Van, on her birthday. If there was a way to make your day better, she would think of it and find a way to execute it. If you have ever been on the proverbial ‘high road’ that we all talk about, you’ve likely seen Hailey there.

The roles she was most proud of were that of a mother to Donni and Harvey and a wife to the love of her life, Daniel Hunt. Her life revolved around making things good for all of them – even in her sickest moments. She felt privileged and lucky to have the most extraordinary husband and kids to call her own.

Hailey was also an amazing daughter, sister, auntie, granddaughter, and friend. She will be so missed by her parents Janet & TJ Belluk, her sisters Randi (Matt) and Kendra (Ger), her nieces and nephews, Briar, Mason, Jag, Harper & Leo and her grandparents, Margaret & Gordon Gibson. When Hailey married Daniel, she was fortunate to be welcomed with open arms into his wonderful family. She will also be sadly missed by her in-laws, Janice & Don Hunt, Daniel’s siblings, Andrew (Twyla) and Jennifer (Michael), and nephew and niece, Jack and Olivia. Hailey’s village of loved ones included so many amazing friends and caring colleagues that she was honoured to have in her life. They will remember her fondly for her big heart – and her awesome baking!

Hailey was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer on August 13th, 2021. The year to follow would be full of challenges and she faced every single one of those with courage and fought hard – for us. She was so strong – now we must be.

At this time, we would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful team of people who cared for our girl and who supported us all as she fought this brutal disease. Although there are too many to mention, we would like to say thank you to Dr. Pitz and Alisha, Dr. Volpe, Dr. St. Godard, Dr. Ginter, Dr. Bashir and Dr. Brar. We would also like to thank the individuals on the 8th floor palliative care team at St. Boniface as well as the entire team at CancerCare. Hailey was always so grateful for each and every nurse, healthcare aide, technician and volunteer who made this scary journey a little less so. You are all truly wonderful people doing very tough jobs in a particularly difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our aching hearts.

We will celebrate Hailey’s life at 2:00 p.m. on September 13th, 2022 at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg. We invite you to stay for a visit immediately following the service. Hailey’s ashes will be scattered at a later date with her immediate family.

If you wish to honour our Hailey’s memory please ensure your loved ones are getting regular and proper screening for this awful disease. She was passionate about the importance of early detection. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, we know Hailey would appreciate donations to be made directly to support her family through her GoFundMe Page or a tribute gift at St. Boniface Hospital Foundation supporting Palliative Care in honour of Hailey.

  1. Deepest sympathies to the Belluk and Hunt families, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Hailey’s courage and selflessness are an inspiration to many, as is your families love and devotion. May those loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength.

  2. I’m a deeply saddened to hear about Hailey’s passing. Hailey was one of the first people at BPK to talk to me. She trained me to serve and always tipped me extra when I bused her tables as a host. She was so generous. She encouraged me to pursue a relationship my now husband, Steve. She was a few years older than me so I looked up to her. Her words were wise. Her heart was always kind. She will be missed. My sincere condolences to all family.

  4. I’m so so devastated to hear of Hailey’s passing. She was one of my best giggle partners in our short time in choir when we went to church. I remember having the best time at a sleepover at her house and being so excited to be surrounded by sisters instead of brothers. I’m so sorry for those who were close to her- I know how amazing that felt and how much of a loss you are probably feeling. So much love, Claire

  13. Dear Janet and family,
I was shocked and saddened to learn that your daughter had passed away. I haven’t seen you in a very long time, but I remember you well and also the fact that you were a busy working parent with three daughters. I feel like I got a glimpse of the wonderful person Hailey was from what was written in her obituary. It’s heartbreaking to lose a child and my heart goes out to you, your husband and the rest of Hailey’s family. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend her Celebration of Life, as I am out of town. Thinking of you at this very difficult time.

My heart breaks for you and your family. So, so sorry for this terrible loss. I can’t imagine the pain you must be feeling. I didn’t know Hailey personally, but if she was anything like her mother, she was sure to have been an incredible force for good in the world. From your description of her character, it appears that my assumption is true. I will continue to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please accept my sincere condolences.

  18. Janet and family,
It has been many years since I had the privilege of working with you at VW School. Your kind, thoughtful, caring nature is always something I will remember about you as well as your warm smile that greeted me each day. Later Kendra joined our staff as an EA. If Hailey was anything like the two of you, and I’m sure she was, Heaven has gained an angel. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers at this truly unimaginable, difficult time.
