Guy Roland Dorge

Guy Roland Dorge
August 7, 1952 – June 28, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend Guy Dorge, on June 28, 2021 at Riverview Health Centre.

Guy will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 47 years, Lorna; son Daryl (James); daughter Leanne (Jason); son Adam (Tiffany); grandchildren Anika and Liam; sisters, Adele, Evelyn (Bob), Denise, Lucille, Jacqueline (Louis), Gisele (Allan) and Jeanette (Gilbert); brothers, Roger (Terry) and Tom (Jodi); in-laws, Arlene Dorge, Andy Degagne, John Sandberg (Vivian), Paul Sandberg (Bonnie), Garth Sandberg (Diane) along with their families, as well as many nieces and nephews. Guy was predeceased by his mother, Solange (Lapointe); father, Adelard; brothers Marc and Aime; sister Diana and brothers-in-law, Paul Nolette, Ken Bruce and Edward Degagne. Also by his father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Sandberg.

Guy retired after 38 years working for CPR along with his father-in-law and several close friends. During Covid, he missed Friday breakfasts with his co-workers. He cherished his time at the cabin in St. Laurent with his family, enjoying the sunsets, playing on the beach with his grand kids and listening to country music. During the flood of 2011, he formed a lasting friendship with his neighbour Paul. Guy was so looking forward to this summer lakeside.

Guy loved his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and their partners. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. We have many great memories that we will cherish of camping trips and family socials with his “memorable dance moves”. He was a huge fan of the Jets. We know he will be watching with Aime. However, nothing lit up his eyes more than being with his grand kids, who he adored and who adored him. No words can explain how much joy would fill his heart when being with Anika and Liam, no matter how he was feeling.

His final battle showed his tough and stubborn side while still finding as many moments he could to make sure his family knew how much he loved them. We will always remember your smile. We miss and love you so much dad.

Thank you to family who were there to support and make each day less difficult. Also thank you to the many doctors and staff that assisted in Guy’s care. A special thank you to Dr. Harlos and Marissa from CancerCare.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. No funeral service will be held.

“Sadly missed along life’s way, quietly remembered every day… no longer in our life to share, but in our hearts, you are always there.” Unknown author.
