June 11th, 2018 – September 9th, 2021
Greyson Alexander Jay Trach was blessed to parents Kelly Staruch and Brendan Trach on June 11th, 2018 at the Winnipeg Women’s Hospital.
Greyson arrived six weeks early, weighing only three pounds, and spent those early weeks of his life in the NICU, finally coming home on his original due date of July 25th, 2018.
Our beautiful baby boy had an amazing grasp at communication, though not with words. His sign language amazed all and continued to grow with each day. He radiated love and joy to everyone who knew him and even to those he never met in person. He was hilarious, charismatic, kind, and he spread love to his entire community. His pure soul was the best teacher of love.
Greyson’s journey to identify his health issues started in early 2020 and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in October 2020. Greyson faced many obstacles in his brief time here, but was always generous to those around him with his glorious smile and infectious laugh, inspiring love and support from anyone who met him. No words could describe how much he loved music and books, and what those meant to him to pass the time during treatments.
On September 9th, 2021 at age 3, after fighting his hardest, Greyson quietly passed away in the loving arms of his parents, and surrounded by family, caring nurses and doctors.
Greyson will be deeply missed by his parents Kelly and Brendan, Uncle Tjay Staruch, Aunts Breanna Wiebe (Mike, Katherine, Emily, Scarlett) and Rachelle (Aleksia, Brody), Grandparents Krista and Tony Staruch, Elaine Trach and Eldon Reimer, Julien Trach, and Great-Grandparents Barbara and Gary Rasmussen, Darlene and Peter Yakimoski and Betty Trach.
The family would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank Greyson’s team at HSC CancerCare, Children’s CK5, NICU and PICU wards, and all those who sent prayers, their love, and support. A private celebration of Greyson’s life will be held on Thursday, September 16th, 2021.
Should anyone wish, please consider donating in Greyson’s memory, to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Manitoba Down Syndrome Society or HSC Children’s Hospital.

Dear Kelly and Brendan, please accept our heartfelt condolences as you grieve now and in the days to come. Greyson was such a bright light for so many of us. His smile and his shining expressive eyes told us a lot just in the photos we saw of him. Our hearts are aching for you both, for Krista and Tony, and all who love you and loved Greyson. Much love from all of us in Ontario.

From that first moment, you captured my heart. Know that a huge part of me left with you, and you will forever be with me. Words fail to explain how much my world was made so much better with you in it. Love you baby boy.
Grandpa
My heartfelt condolences, we’re all thinking of you all in this trying time.
Heartfelt condolences❤to all of you. I was thinking of the times when you brought Greyson to the family centres and even as a young baby, he was so alert and happy! One particular time, at the Richmond Centre he was crawling on his tummy – little ones running around him and he was giggling – he was wearing a camouflage outfit and he was crawling commando style across the floor – he was going pretty fast! Rest in peace little one – you brought such joy to all of us.☀️
