Gordon Muth passed peacefully from this life amid an unassuming spring morning. Given the restrictions of the Covid pandemic, his desire for cremation, and his enjoyment in gathering in person with friends and family, a full obituary will be published and a memorial service will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider honoring his memory by hugging someone you love.

With deepest sympathy to the family on this sad occasion. We have so many happy memories of Gord over many years. He was not only a friend, and a family member but an all around ‘nice guy’ and we were lucky enough to enjoy many times spent in his company. – Ken and Marilyn Henschel

The butterfly dance was a staple dance at socials and weddings in the 1960s in Manitoba during the era when there were still bands with several musicians playing the music. The dance needed three people, so as a trio, the individuals would do a hop, step with everyone’s feet moving in the same direction , as the trio moved around the dance floor , arms around each other, to the slowish music.THEN the music would pause just before the fast music would begin. As the fast music began , the person in the middle would typically take turns swinging the two people around with the person waiting usually clapping in time to the music. When the slower music started up again , the trio would link arms again and continue the hop, step around the dance floor until the fast music started again.
The dance floor could get quite interesting so the dancers had to be careful not to crash into each other.
I was pleased to find the explanation of the butterfly dance with a VIDEO clip of the Milennia band playing the dance music and one trio in the crowd dancing the butterfly the Gord Muth style. Gord and Bev taught me that style of dancing the fast part of the butterfly with arms in the air with each person taking their turn in going under the raised arms ; a more graceful way of dancing the fast part.
Many thoughts of family occasions of the past at this time… May the children and grandchildren of Gord and Bev be blessed with wonderful memories that they shared together as a family
that will help to ease the difficulties experienced during this time of loss.
Thinking also of the Muth and Neudorf siblings and their families .
