June 24, 1923 – December 28, 2022
Peacefully on December 28, Florence passed, just shy of her 100th birthday. She is predeceased by her loving husband of over 70 years, George Bain (March 4, 2017). She is also predeceased by her brothers Joe and John, and her sister Francis. She is survived by her two sons George and Ken and daughter in law Barbara. She is also survived by her grandson John (Josie) and great grand daughter Emmy.
Florence lived her life in the Fort Rouge district of Winnipeg. Her working years consisted of being a cashier at the A&P store on Taylor and Pembina. When not working, she provided a loving home to her husband and two sons. Florence always took pride in her great head of hair and her clothing style.
Florence and George enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Mexico and Florida once they retired. After living in the same house for all their years, they settled into the Canoe Club Condo. Once George passed, mom carried on until health issues had her move to the Shaftesbury. From there she was fortunate enough to get a place in the wonderful Donwood Manor Nursing Home. The incredible staff at Donwood made Florence’s last few years a relaxing and comforting end to her long and rewarding life.
Florence made it a point to make sure two people who gave her so much joy and support throughout the years were acknowledged. Darlene McKibbon, who called her faithfully; as well as Gloria Turner and her husband Richard, who always gave her so much joy with every visit.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Donwood Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
