In remembrance of Edward Chudy who passed away on November 20, 2023, suddenly and peacefully at the age of 92.
He will be missed by his son Todd (Dana) Chudy and daughter Denise (Jim) Warner. Also, his grandchildren Carter (Brooklyn) Chudy, Devon (Tayah) Chudy, and Sabrina (Jeremy) Downing along with other extended family will mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents Phyllis and Andrew, brother Emil, and his sister Frances. He also lost the love of his life, Aurellia in 2016.
He was born and raised in Fisher Branch, Manitoba where his father was a farmer.
He moved to Winnipeg in 1947 and later became an electrician and settled down with Aurellia on Dorchester Avenue. They ran a boarding house where many friends and family stayed when they moved to Winnipeg. He started his own electrical company Reliable Electric, and his son Todd joined the company business.
He had a strong love for aviation, became a pilot, and bought his own twin-engine airplane. Up until the end of his life, he enjoyed hours on his computer with his flight simulator. He was an accomplished snooker player and would enter tournaments.
He also loved to travel, and his children have fond memories of their trips to Hawaii. In the summer the family would head to Grand Beach for water skiing and good times with friends and relatives.
Throughout his life, he loved fixing things, and it was not uncommon to come into his apartment and find him with a hot glue gun in hand. One of his favorite meals for his friends was escargot with a healthy helping of garlic!
He was a member of the Fort Rouge congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with his family and then later he was affiliated with the East Kildonan congregation. He enjoyed telling others about his faith and the beautiful hope for the future. Even when he was in the hospital, his hope of living again on earth in perfect health helped him cope with his situation.
Our family would like to thank all who took the time to visit him during the month he was in the hospital.
Ed would always be thankful when people would stop by. We would also like to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor for their attention and patience.
A private family memorial is planned.
