Picture of Don McLeod Campbell

December 31, 1942 – April 16, 2020

Don passed away peacefully at the age of 77. Don will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Carla, family and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents Jack and Anne Campbell.

He was born December 31, 1942 in Vancouver, B.C., and moved to Winnipeg with his parents. He worked in the financial industry for most of his career and retired in the late 90’s. Don and Carla enjoyed retirement and loved traveling, especially cruising to many destinations such as Alaska, the Panama Canal and various locations in the Caribbean. Don was a car fanatic, a member of the Winnipeg Trap & Skeet club and the Watch Enthusiasts Club. He also enjoyed sports which included going to the Goldeyes games, football and Professional Bull Riding competitions. He had a sharp mind and revelled in the challenge of sudoku puzzles. Don was a unique soul, caring, thoughtful, strong willed and larger than life.

Thank you to all family and friends for their love and prayers. Also, a special thanks to the staff at Grace Hospital for all their support and care provided.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Don’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near…. still loved, still missed, and forever dear.”

  1. Carla, so sorry to hear of the passing of Don, he was a very honest & kind person to deal and talk with. He will be greatly missed. We have known Don for a very long time and I know that he talked with great respect of you as well. It will be very hard not to hear from him again, even if it was for a quick hello. Our condolences go out to you, from myself and our staff. sincerely, Denise Baker (Custom Vac)

Don was a wonderful man, truly larger than life. We treasured his friendship. We will always remember our smart car fall suppers with Carla riding shotgun. He would do anything for you. He just loved to help. Carla, we are so sorry. We will see you as soon as we can. Much love, Ingrid and Frank

  6. We here at Osborne Place did not get to know Don as long as his close friends, however Don being the giving person he was, helped many people in more ways than one can imagine and is very dearly missed by those of us that enjoyed his talks at coffee, computer clubs and every day communications about life and living. Rest well Don .
Carla , please know, we are all grieving your loss with you and he is up

My sister Gerry and I grew up across the street from Don on Kingston Row. We all attended Windsor School and were good friends in our early years. Don was very caring and took exceptional care of his mother Anne in her later years.

  8. Dear Carla, Thinking of you and know how much Don will be missed. It is indeed a huge void.
So glad we can still be part of each other’s lives in this widows walk.. you are not alone.
    Much love… Doreen
