December 1, 1942 – January 19th, 2024
We are extremely heartbroken to announce that our beloved Mother, Sister, Nana, and Aunt Diane Marie Stone passed away in the early morning on January 19th, 2024 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Diane (81) was born December 1, 1942 in Brandon, Manitoba and lived in Winnipeg since 1976.
She was surrounded by her children (Tim and Kim) in her unexpected and final days battling cancer that had been recently diagnosed.
Lovingly remembered by her son (Tim Stone, his wife Karen, and daughter Taylor of Calgary, Alberta), her daughter (Kim Stone of Coquitlam, BC), her sister (Linda Melnyk and husband Greg of Arroyo Grande, California), and her brother (Dan Burneski, his wife Susan of Surrey, BC and daughter Pamela of Detroit, Michigan).
Diane was predeceased by her parents Anthony Daniel (Tony) Burneski on July 25, 1993 and Kathleen (Kay) Burneski on July 23, 1988.
We would like to send out our sincerest thanks to the caring staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and we appreciate the care our loved one received.
There will not be a formal service and the family will have an intimate celebration of her life at a later date in Calgary, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“I’m There Inside Your Heart” by Unknown
Right now I’m in a different place
And though we seem apart
I’m closer than I ever was,
I’m there inside your heart.
I’m with you when you greet each day
And while the sun shines bright
I’m there to share the sunsets, too
I’m with you every night.
I’m with you when the times are good
To share a laugh or two,
And if a tear should start to fall
I’ll still be there for you.
And when that day arrives
That we no longer are apart,
I’ll smile and hold you close to me,
Forever in my heart.
