May 23, 1939 – November 28, 2020
It is with heavy Hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend on Saturday November 28th, 2020 . Daniel was born in Winnipeg on May 23, 1939 and grew up in the north end where he finished school specializing in graphic arts and eventually attained his dream job of working as a professional Graphic Artist for the DND at 17 Wing in Winnipeg. In 1963 he married his beloved sweetheart Pauline (Bobee) and in the coming years started their family of 3 children whom he loved greatly. Daniel happily retired after 30+ years with the DND where he was surrounded by his greatest passion of aircraft. The next 20+ years he devotedly helped Pauline prosper her home based ceramic business. Dan’s many passions included carpentry where he utilized his skills and talents to design and build their family home, ceramic shop & gazebo on their property in Headingley which in turn greatly inspired his children. He also loved gardening, the outdoors, camping, fishing and most importantly, gathering with friends/family for any and all occasions to share stories and laughs where his infectious smile and sense of humour dominated every room.
Dan was also blessed with a natural artistic talent that he utilized in many aspects throughout his life, and it was visually apparent in all of his projects and passions as well as passing that gene onto his children.
Dan was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years where he volunteered his time, energy and skills through his generosity and kind heart and spirit. His favorite memory was when his Council graciously raised funds to purchase a container load of wheelchairs for the Haiti earthquake in 2010, and ensured their delivery and distribution to the residence.
Most recently Dan and his close friend and neighbor Gerri, decided that they wanted to purchase a home built aircraft that was a project that came with a bunch of parts to finish the assembly into a flying aircraft. After spending an inordinate amount of time discussing the project with each other, they both decided against it as they feared that it would just end with both of them becoming divorced from their wives.
A great man that had a great life, and Dan will always be missed and loved by his wife Pauline, sons Darryl (daughter in-law Mariela), Daniel, grandsons Wiley and Dylan and their father Dan, and was predeceased by his daughter Daria (2010) and brother Ray (2017).
Virtual service will be held on Monday December 7th, 2020 at 1:00pm on facebook, Youtube (which will be readily available for future viewing) or through the Saint Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church website saintbasilwpg.ca, and will be officiated by Father Mykhaylo Khomitsky.
Donations may be made in Dan’s memory to a charity of your choice.
Please feel free to post and share your favorite story or memory of our beloved Dan.
The family would like to thank everyone for the kind thoughts, donations and condolences.
We would also like to thank all of the staff at the Grace Hospital and Grace Hospice for all of their care and compassion.

Dear Pauline, Darryl & Danny,
We are so very sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. Dan always had such a smile on his face that I will never forget! I can remember going to the home on Boyd Ave with my Mom and Dad when we came in from Gimli! We were always welcome and made to feel at home by the family. As the years went by it seemed we only got together at weddings and funerals as we got older! Please accept our sincere condolences during this time. Remember he will always be with and keep your memories close to you.
