August 18, 1927 – October 10, 2020
Clare (Clarice) Doreen Clark passed away peacefully on October 10 at Donwood Personal Care Home surrounded by her dear friends.
She will be sadly missed by her many friends that she left a deep impact on. Known as a walker, and having walked into many people’ s lives Clare had a special way of getting to know people and instantly becoming friends with them. Many people will remember her walking through the Winnipeg Concourse on her way to her second home at the Fairmont saying hi to her many acquaintances on her way there.
Clare was born in Winnipeg August 18, 1927 and spent her working career at the Canadian Wheat Board where she met her lifelong dear friend, Irma, who continued to be her friend through many years and who also was able to be with Clare when she passed onto her new home.
Clare really enjoyed Gilbert and Sullivan and also did some acting in the Fringe Festival. Her other passion was travelling and managed to see and meet many new friends in all her travels.
She really believed in physical fitness and even at the age of 82 was able to climb 21 flights of stairs to her apartment suite. Clare walked everywhere never having driven. This gave her excellent health until her passing away, even recovering so well from hip surgery that continued to give her the ability to walk until her nineties.
Clare was especially close to two families in Winnipeg, Ron, Peter and Bernie Smolik and their extended families, and also the Froeses/Peters with all their extended families. She will be sadly missed by these families as she always participated in special events in their lives.
Clare was assured of God’s Peace and Presence in her life.
We would like to thank the staff and chaplain at Donwood PCH for their special loving care they provided to Clare.
A private ceremony will occur shortly after cremation.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to Siloam Mission as Clare was always aware of and eager to help those less fortunate. She believed in “paying it forward”.
I know she would also request that you take a walk with a loved one and share special moments with that person.
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” Clare you have now begun another new journey with your first step.

We always enjoyed having Clarice join our family events. I remember her keen interest in people’s lives and her incredible memory of people’s names. She loved to celebrate and would go “all out” and we so enjoyed being with her at her 90th birthday celebration! Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered. She lived well!!
