Charles Craig Gilley

January 31st 1961 – January 22nd, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the untimely and tragic passing of Charles Craig Gilley, 64, on January 22nd, 2025. Craig was an extremely loving father and friend; he was also an amazing water-skier with an exceptional taste in music.
On January 31st 1961, Craig was welcomed onto Earth by his late mother and father; Barbara and James Gilley. He is remembered by his daughter Carly and his step-son Jason, his two older siblings; Janice and Neil, as well as his niece and nephew; Samantha and Brant.
From childhood he did not hesitate to express his adventurous energy. This wonderful quality of his really shined while out at the cabin in Keewatin. At around 28 years old, he commenced the build of his own cabin on the Gilley island with the help of his beloved friends and family. His innovation, resilience, and big heart will always be admired and remembered by those who knew him. He put years of blood, sweat and tears into building and maintaining the cabin over the years, but it was always worth it for him to have a special place to spend quality time with his family and friends, and for the fond memories he created with his daughter.
Craig was an exceptionally hard worker. He was employed at Motorcoach for 40+ years as a painter and had many great connections with his colleagues over the years. He was loved by his friends and his neighbours and was always more than willing to give a helping hand to those he could. He will be missed by so many.

  1. We were shocked and saddened by Craig’s passing. We spent many summer days out on the island with him and had a great time. Craig joined us on a trip to Jamaica one year and we had another fun holiday with him! We have great memories of Craig and we will really miss him!

  2. He was always so kind and we had some great conversations. I know he was truly a good hearted person. He always spoke so highly of his daughter, he was so proud of her and would be so excited when she was coming for a visit. I am very proud that I could call him my friend. We traded Jean jackets, it wasn’t supposed to be for keeps, I still have his. If Carly would like it back let me know. Rest in peace Craig, I always remember you and most of all I’ll miss your laugh.

  3. We will miss you Craig. Password, botchie ball and happy hours on the patio will be one short. I will also miss your tunes coming from the tip of the island. If the wind was just right, I would sing along. Farewell for now my cousin and friend. Till we meet again. Love from Edmonton. Not sure if my last message went through, so tried again.
