It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Dipple (nee Lindsay), August 17, 2022 at the age of 96.
Cae was predeceased by husband, Ross, son-in-law, Don, and grandson, Cristian, as well as siblings, Tom, Isabelle, Janet, Liz and Shirley. She is survived by children Lea (Mark), Jan (Henry), Glenn (Kathryn), and grandchildren Dan (Melissa), Jill (Mike and Zoey).
Cae grew up in Morse Place in Winnipeg and after graduating from high school, went to Pitman Business College, taking a stenographer’s course. Always a stickler for correct pronunciation, spelling and handwriting, Mum became very proficient at shorthand and joined a legal firm as a secretary. It was there that she met Millie, who introduced her to brother Ross, Cae’s future husband. Mum enjoyed farm life in Sanford, becoming a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Sanford and eventually returning to work at Morris MacDonald Collegiate as an administrative assistant.
Her passions and hobbies were children, dogs, baking/cooking and gardening. She made a point of passing some of those skills on to her children and the various “city kids” that she often entertained on the farm. Mum and Dad lived from 1988 to 2007 in Nanaimo (Paradise, as Dad called it), returning to Winnipeg when Dad’s health began to slide.
After Dad passed in 2010, Mum lived in independent living until 2015 when her physical decline left her wheelchair bound, living out the balance of her days at St. Norbert PCH. She had nothing but good things to say about the care she received. The staff enjoyed her sense of humor which stayed with her. The rural surroundings and ability to get out on walks made her latter years enjoyable, as mum loved to walk and enjoy nature.
Thank you to the staff for their compassion and caring during mum’s stay. Her family is so grateful.
No service by request.
