Brian Settee

Brian Settee

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to our father, grandfather, husband and friend Brian on March 3, 2022.

Brian left his mark on all of us in many different ways. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave at Henderson Hwy.

Brian Bramwell Settee passed away peacefully on March 3, 2022 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Dad was predeceased by his parents Norman and Esther Settee; brothers Dale and Keith; sisters-in-law Sharon and Barbara; nephews Bruce Mitchell, Ryan Settee and Terry Fox. Survived by sister Esme (Gord) Mitchell; brothers, Burke, Lyle and Aubrey (Moira); also many nieces and nephews. From Dads first wife, Jeanine Fox, they had three sons; Christopher, Clifford and Carlisle (Jolene); grandchildren Ed (Dayna) and Taylor (Alexia) and great-grandchildren Lucas, Eliana and Amelia. Dads love of his life, his second wife Mary, and their beautiful family that Dad fell right in love with; Gary (Leanne), grandchildren Sian and husband Alex, Lyndon. Sharon (Darell), grandchildren Stephanie and Jeff (Laura) with four great-grandchildren. Terry (Tracy) grandchildren Leah and Matthew.
Dad grew up in Elmwood going to Lord Selkirk School. He started his career working at CN, then received his Brokers Licence and started working for United Grain Growers. After UGG Dad started Can Am Commodities Corporations with Norm Duvall. After the grain business Dad started driving tow truck for RJ Towing Company. Stephanie and Jeffery loved getting rides in the truck. Years later he started driving cars for Adesa, until he retired.
Dad was very proud of his hockey days; playing for the Kelvin Terriers and Winnipeg Monarchs in 1959/60. Coaching hockey and baseball out of Chalmer’s C.C in Elmwood. Dad really enjoyed watching his grandson Taylor play AAA hockey, brought back memories of his hockey days. Dads real passion was working on the race car that his friend Norman drove at Gimli and across Canada and the USA. Dad also enjoyed a good beer, usually at the LaSalle; this is where he saw that old school friend he would end up spending the next 30 years together with Mary. Together they enjoyed their grandchildren, drives to Thunder Bay, playing bingo and stepping into McPhillips Street Station.
The Family would like to thank the help they received at Bethania Personal Care Home and St. Boniface Hospital.

What a wonderful man Brian was. The first time i met Brian it was his smile that I will always remember.

  2. It is with sadness that I hear of the passing of Brian Settee today. We worked in the same office when I worked for Duvell Grain and then he became my boss at Can Am Commodities. He was passionate about his work and navigated the challenges that he faced in the grain industry. He was a kind and good man to work for and loved his family and friends. He and his fellow friends had many antics and great stories. I was happy that his life had much happiness since his career change and second wife Mary. RIP Brian.
