It is with great sadness and heart break that the family of Brian Douglas Smith announces his passing on February 28, 2020.

Brian will be greatly missed by his much loved son Tanner Reed Smith as well as Tanner’s mother Amy Roberts. He was also very loved by his mother Nancy Smith; brother Brad Smith; sister Barb Brazeau (Mike); nephew Mitchell; and nieces Robyn and Jaime.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Gary Smith in 2004.

Although Brian suffered greatly in the last few years of his life, he was always determined to meet all his obstacles with might! His most prized possession in this world was his son Tanner, whom he loved him with every bit of his being. A proud fan of the Browns, Indians, the city he came from and most importantly, Tanner! A Rock Star in his own right! Rest in Peace Cleveland!

After careful consideration regarding the new COVID-19 crisis, and in the interest of the community’s health, the family has decided to cancel the memorial service that was to be held this Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later time at Thompson In the Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or any Mental Health Charity of your choice.

If these walls could talk

They would speak of a man

Who has worked with great heart

To accomplish his plan

They’d speak of sweet moments, of laughter and fun,

The times with Tanner, the times with his son.

Oh, if these walls could talk,

It would be just the start

Of a story of love, a great man and his heart.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Friday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Ave.

Boy, this came out of left field for me. Brian only re-connected with me somewhat recently, late last year. Was so nice to hear from him again. Gosh, so many good memories. A group of us worked and “played” together years ago. Had so much fun. Fond memories. Brian had a huge heart, a very kind and honest person. “Sister” Barb. I remember Brian speaking of you frequently. He sure held you in high regard and with a lot love. Wish he didn’t have to suffer with the affects of diabetes. He didn’t deserve that. My sincere sympathy.

  4. My condolences to Brian’s family and friends. Although I hadn’t seen him in years I still have many fond memories of working with him at the Spectrum Cabaret many many years ago.
