It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Reuther, Wife, Mother and Grandma, at the age of 77 with her family by her side.
Brenda will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Charlie (Chuck), her son Chad (Nichola) Joey (Aimie) and grandchildren Jamie, Keira, Nathan, Maya.
She is survived by her sister Donna, (Kent), Brother-in-law Jim, Joyce (Gil), Mark (Joe, Jan), Marion (Gino), Alan (Marcia), sister-in-law Lynn, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Arnold and Lenore Sealey, sister Patricia Arkle and Brother Arnie Sealey. As well as her loving special second family, Reuther.
Brenda was born in Winnipeg and proudly grew up in Fort Garry having gone to General Byng and Vincent Massey Collegiate. She met her husband Charlie at the local pool hall in Fort Gary. They were lovingly married for 56 years, married on Sept 13, 1969, ironically which was 2 days before hunting season. Moving to Matlock soon after in 1976.
Brenda talked often of her Fort Garry roots, telling tales of the parties at her parent’s home on Edderton avenue. When the kitchen was too small for the band, and the singer had to stand on the street while they danced inside. She often missed the small hometown feel of her family, cousins, friends of Fort Garry and St. James
Known as Grandma cats to her grandkids, Brenda was garden lover and avid animal caretaker. She has owned, cared for, loved numerous dogs & cats which were not always her own.
Her winters consisted of driving the boys back and forth to hockey practices and watching their games. When there was a free evening you could always find her at the local Bingo Hall with Aunt Mavis.
She cherished the memories of cabin life with her extended family of Reutherville on Percys island, and friends from Deception Lake, which kept her happy when she was no longer able to go. She reminisced of playing cards, Yahtzee and talking about these damn kids with Aunt Shirley. Aunt Shirleys passing had left a definite void that could not be filled.
Brenda loved her grandchildren and had a special bond with each one especially what was lovingly referred to as Grandma Camp. She cherished the annual Flamingo Fest and visiting with family and friends. The kettle was always on as she would always say.
A very sincere thank you to Jan Mikowas (her Sista as Brenda lovingly put it) for her time, friendship and companionship shown to our mom.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors in Gimli Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and The Grace Hospital. Also to the STARS air ambulance teams whom Brenda got not 1 but 2 rides from.
A celebration of Life will take place on March 29th from 1pm – 4pm at the Matlock Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to Manitoba Lung association or Preferred animal shelter.

Brenda was a wonderful sister-in-law, and friend who would make you feel right at home as she put the kettle on and settled in for a good visit! A good laugh, an old story, a family adventure….we shared them all!! Oh how I’ll miss you dear sister!

To both the Sealey and Reuther Famillies, my deepest condolences to you all. I also shared the love for her grandkids, and pets that were needing love…for close to a decade.
I will always be thankful and cherish how she treated my Mom before and after her stroke. Her kind words when I decided it was time to move on, I will keep close to my heart. RIP Brenda, enjoy your Tea up there in heaven! You deserve it!
Condolences to Brenda’s family and her extended family.
Our sympathy to all the family,
