Brenda Louise Postnicks

August 11, 1961 – July 29, 2024

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Brenda Louise Postnicks, age 62, died on July 29, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was preceded by her father, Gunnar Postnicks, and survived by her mother, Laurie Postnicks (née Belisle).

Her children and her grandchildren were her whole world. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Rebenchuk, and her partner Ash; her sons, Paul Eccles and David Eccles and his wife Samantha; and her grandchildren, Zenon, Zofia, Arlo, and Lydia.

Raised in Great Falls, Manitoba, on August 11, 1961. Brenda was known in her community as caring and hard-working. Her love of her community was defined in her volunteer work at River Osbourne Community Center, Festival du Voyageur, and The Winnipeg Folk Festival. Later in life, she began reconnecting to her Métis ancestry. Her career as a health care worker started at the Saint-Amant Center and continued in her studies at the Urban Circle, where she graduated, furthering her skill in taking care of people.

A lover of life, Brenda will be remembered for her compassion, loyalty, and love of music and art. Her love of animals, her love of the land, and the environment. Her sense of humour and her contagious laugh.

Brenda will be survived by her brothers and sisters, Debbie, Gail, Kelly, and Dan; their spouses, David, Heather, and Allison; as well as her nieces and nephews, Tony, Tim, Christopher, Stephanie, Nelson, Emily, Hunter, and Laura. Brenda is also leaving behind her partner, Gary, and their cat and dog, Peaches and Bob, whom she adored. Brenda made many lifelong friends who will all be missing her tremendously.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service will be held. She will be laid to rest in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba.

She will be dearly missed and forever deeply loved. The family asks in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to the Winnipeg Folk Festival in her honour.

  3. Heaven has taken another angel from us. I met Brenda through Gary and she immediately fit into our circle…she kind and funny…adventurous and passionate especially when it came to her grandchildren and pets…kinda like me. I’m going to miss you Brenda but you’re going to make heaven a better place.

  4. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Family. There is an empty space in my heart today as she was a long time Bestie & I will miss her dearly. She was a very caring, loving , loyal friend & her friendship will always cherished. Hugs, Hugs, Hugs
