Peacefully, at the Maples Long Term Care Home, Bernardo (Bernie) passed away on September 28, 2022, at the age of 80. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Luisa and Romel Cordoviz and Janette and Peter Schuster. He also leaves behind his grandchildren and their families, Jennifer (Steve, Jaiden, and Jasmyn), Timmy, Maia, Sophie and Ethan.
Bernie was born on June 10, 1942, in Iloilo City, Philippines. He was sponsored to Canada in 1971. He worked at several places but the occupation that was most important to him and he held with pride was that of Bellman at The Hotel Fort Garry and the Sheraton Hotel. There he made many memories and friends. Bernie was liked by many who met him and was often thought of as a friendly and personable man.
The last year of his life was spent at the Maples Long Term Care Home. He quickly came to feel right at home and part of a familiar community here. We would like to thank the staff and personnel who took such good care of Dad.
As per Dad’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment was held at Chapel Lawn.
