Barbara Louise Mair nee Allen

February 20, 1930 – July 16, 2024 

Quietly on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, our dear Aunt was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Aunty was born in Winnipeg on February 20, 1930, to parents Harry and Edith Allen and siblings David, Joan, and Billy living in Vivian, Manitoba. It was during these years that Aunty embraced the faithfulness of the Lord God which brought her to faith in Jesus Christ.

Upon leaving school, Aunty came to Winnipeg where she worked at Winnipeg Supply. This led to a career working at Deer Lodge Hospital for over 25 years. While living and working in Winnipeg, Aunty became a member of Elim Chapel for over 40 years. It was at Elim where she met her husband, Frank Mair. They married at Elim Chapel in 1972.

Those left to cherish her memory are nephews Charles MacQueen, Jared Longstaffe (Brooke), children Jessica and Hunter; and Carter Iwaniw, children, Tiffany, Tyler, and Devin; niece Nancy Rushak; and friends, Ed and Helen Hughes, Lilian Vinet, Rob and Sandy Burland, and Ralph and Justina Johnson. Aunty was predeceased by her father Harry Allen 1952, mother Edith Allen 1998, brother Billy, husband Frank Mair 1995, brother Dave 2005, sister Joan 2010 and her niece Rose Longstaffe 2023.

We deeply appreciate and give a huge thanks to the caring and kind staff on first floor east wing, plus all the support staff at Extendicare Oakview Place. Their care and concern, not only for Barbara but for the family as well, was amazing.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Ave in Westwood.
