Barbara Joan Sylvia Ibey

July 24, 1940 – January 11, 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom Barbara Ibey on January 11, 2025, at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters April (James) Cuthbert and Cheryl Schmidt.  Also left to mourn are her dear friends Carol and Joe Kovacks, the son she never had James Fleet and her many nieces and nephews in Smiths Falls, Ontario.  She was predeceased by her parents Florence and Donald MacIntosh, sister Brenda Harper and her loving husband William.

Her soft warmth, kindness and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Meadowood Manor.  We cannot thank them enough for the exceptional care and compassion they showed every single day.

Cremation has taken place and mom will be laid to rest with her beloved William in the spring.  A private celebration of her life will be held in the coming weeks.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory can be made to the Meadowood Manor Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

You fought a long hard battle with MS mom, you are finally free.

We will love and miss you forever.

  1. Dear April & James, I never met ur lovely mom but I know how important mom’s r. Losing a mother is like losing a part of one self. God knew it was time for the struggle with MS to be over. She is at peace & rest now. 🙏

Thank you so much for including us in this tribute to Barb. A kind and generous soul who enjoyed a good laugh when being endlessly teased by Joe. We never heard her complain once about her chronic condition in all of the 29 years we knew her and she was her usual cheerful self right up to the last time we saw her before Christmas. We will remember her with fondness 💔

  4. I met Aprils Mom many years ago as a youngster playing in the neighborhood with April and our other friends.
As we were always waiting on eachother to get ready as young girls do….hair…makeup…etc
Aprils Mom would ask me in to wait for her and she was always a sweet kind and lovely lady.
    Rest in Peace Beautiful!
Our Deepest Condolances to you April , James and all Family members.
