Ashley Julia Tokaruk

April 16, 1993 – March 11, 2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ashley Julia Tokaruk on March 11, 2021 in Toronto.

Ashley leaves to mourn her passing her father Micheal, mother Lori & step father Tony; brothers Matthew & fiancé Katherine, Christopher (Kathleen) nephews Edwin & Haydn; Aunty Katherine & Michael, Aunty Diane & Trevor, her “sister cousins” Jade (Brandon), Mikaela (Maxence), Camille, Chantal, brother cousin Luke and her three precious loves Rose, Nora and Clive; Uncle Don (Melene) cousins Julie (Ryan) & Laura (Frankie) Jace & Jaxon as well as many other family members & friends.

Ashley was born in Winnipeg on April 16, 1993. She graduated from River East Collegiate and then successfully completed the Creative Communications Program at Red River Collage. She joined the Swish Model Management team where she loved her co-workers and gained valuable experience. In 2018 Ashley’s career took her to Toronto where she worked as a Social Media and Community Management Coordinator for a large restaurant design group. Ashley made some very special friendships during her short time there and they miss her terribly.

Ashley began dancing at the age of 4 at The Ziegfeld School of Dance and later at Ken Peter Dance Express where she also taught dance. During her dance years she made friendships that have lasted her lifetime. She competed for many years, and was presented with a multitude of dance awards and scholarships that led her to travel all over North America. One of the highlights of Ashley’s dance career was when she was chosen to represent Canada in the World Dance Competition in NYC.

Ashley loved to travel and her favourite trips included Thailand, LA,
The Dominican, Bahamas, Greece, Italy and spending time with family in Laguna Beach.

Ashley was well known in the City for her volunteer work, and for co creating the Main Street Project event “The Runway to Change”. This event highlighted the plight of the homeless and brought awareness, funds and action to Main Street Project.

She spent a cold winter night outdoors to support the homeless, organized clothing and food drives for those in need, and she was always helping others through charity work including Ronald McDonald House & The Humane Society.

Ashley was creative, adventurous, spirited, altruistic and tender hearted.
She was forever compassionate and empathetic to all, and she was the best friend ever, never missing a chance to help others.

Ashley was known for her spontaneous dances no matter where she was, and knowing every word to every song. Her energy was contagious. Her raspy laugh was infectious and to know Ashley was simply to love her.

Ashley lit up every room she entered – and had a natural ability to make each person feel special. With her long blond hair, and bright blue eyes she loved and gave freely from her huge heart. She lived a life of integrity, dedicated to her values. She exhibited patience, trust, tolerance and sincerity. The way she lived is an inspiration to us all.

She was the brightest light in our family, and her family was her world.
No one was more excited for a family gathering than Ashley, her presence and loving hugs are so truly missed. There are no words.

None of our lives are the same without Ashley near us, and a piece of all our hearts are gone and will forever remain with her in Heaven.

In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here. Too perfect for this world.
God bless you Ashley our love, our light, our shining star. We will meet again.

Whenever you see 11.11 please close your eyes, make a wish, blow a kiss and think of Ashley.

We would like to thank everyone for their loving support, kindness and generosity during this unimaginable time. To Ashley’s friends who have honoured her with numerous beautiful tributes both in Winnipeg & Toronto, Thank you. She loves you all to infinity.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Missionaries of Charity 167 Akins St. Wpg MB
