Anwar (Harry) Ali

Anwar Harry Ali

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Anwar (Harry) Ali on March 3, 2022.

Anwar was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn. He is survived by his son, Richard; daughter, Alisa; sister, Jasmine; brothers-in-law, Gerry, Donald (Linda), Michael and Larry; and his grandson, David (Meaghan). He will also be missed by his cousin, Marie (Bill); nephews, Mark (Jennifer), Brett (Tammy), Douglas, Ken (Carly), John and Richard; and nieces Megan (David) and Stacey (Scott).

Anwar moved from Trinidad to Winnipeg in 1959. He started his own company, Industrial Water Treatment in 1971 and ran it until 2018. The determination and will he used in his business was applied exponentially in his love for his family. He loved throwing parties and having dinners, with food that would go on for days, in the house that he and Carolyn built. Harry (his nickname) and Carry would have an assembly line for making everything from cabbage rolls and perogies to curry and roti. He was an enigma. Tenacious, pragmatic businessman and selfless, dependable, generous husband, father, grandfather and friend.

We would like to thank all the staff at HSC and Bethesda Hospital for their care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at a future date.

  1. I was sad to here of Harry’s passing today. Harry and I worked together for many years. His water treatment knowledge was matched by nobody but his personality , kindness and empathy for others is why I stayed loyal to IWTS for over 30 years. Thank you Harry , you will be missed.
