January 30, 1928 – December 13, 2020

It is with sad hearts that we announce the departure of our father, Grand Father, Great Grand Father and Friend Tony at the age of 92 at Tudor Personal Care Home in Selkirk, MB.

Tony was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2008.   Also by his siblings Annie Dzydz (Walter), Pearl Dugid (John) and Peter Zasitko (Pearl).  Tony leaves to mourn his son Michael (Geraldine), daughters Myrna (Andy) Friesen, Susan Swiderski, and Linda (Jeff) Choboter.  Treasured Grand children Cassandra Johnson, Troy Friesen, Brendon and Jarrett Swiderski, and Tori and Riley Choboter.  Great Grand children Leighton and Reegan Swiderski.

Tony enjoyed family gatherings and time spent at the family cabin in Winnipeg Beach.  In earlier years he enjoyed taking the family in the trailer on numerous adventures throughout the country and the US.  He was an avid gardener, well known in Transcona for his tomatoes.  Tony enjoyed fishing and cheering for the Blue Bombers.   He was a custodian for the Winnipeg School division for over 30 years and enjoyed many years of retirement.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tudor Personal Care Home in Selkirk MB.   A memorial service and burial at the Transcona Cemetery has taken place on December 17, 2020 that can also be viewed on YouTube: Anthony Zasitko.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Society or do a random act of kindness for a senior citizen.  Thank you.

When you are a kid, going out to play, you never really appreciate a good and safe neighbourhood. We could not have asked for a better neighbour! Mr Zasitko always looked out for our family and after many years, your longtime neighbours do become like family! I remember his wonderful garden and we were the recipients of some of his great tomatoes. I have fond memories of our little chats on the driveways we shared. Our deepest sympathies to you all.

  2. Mr. Sazitko was a very close friend of my late father, Ken Possia. Their friendship dates back many decades to when I was a young child. As I recall they never had one discrepancy over those many years-one definition of a great friend. They used to meet at each other’s house at least a couple times per month to enjoy their friendship. I recall my father calling him “Chappy”, a nickname I forget how he acquired. Chappy was always willing to offer help whenever needed. His honesty , loyalty and integrity hopefully we’re passed on to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After my father’s passing in 1998, I unfortunately lost communication with him. I note latterly he lived at a personal care home , but I hope he enjoyed his 92 years. My condolences to his family.
