She also leaves behind hergrandchildren: Shawntel, Ricky (Roxanne), Kyle (Caitlin), Alexandria (Andrew), Timothy (Claudia), Melissa, Samantha, Victoria, Selena (Graham), Dylan, Britney (Reese), Jaimie, Jaxin, and Noah, as well her great grandchildren; Jonathan, Andre, Penny,Riley, Athalia, Carter, Asaiah, Mateo, Jemal, Cruz, Romeo & Ishak. She is also survived by her brother, Francisco; sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Alcinda is predeceased by her husband Rui and her beloved grandson, Matthew.
Alcinda was born in Sao Miguel, Azores in Faja De Cima in 1946. She married her beloved husband of 41 years in 1967. Only a few short years later, they soon began their journey of immigrating their family to Canada. Alcinda arrived in 1974 to build a new life for herself and her loved ones, embracing the challenges of starting over in Canada with strength, grace, and a deep love for her family. She worked tirelessly and selflessly to ensure their success and happiness in a new land.
Alcinda was a kind, strong-willed, and loving woman whose family meant everything to her. She would do anything for her loved ones, always putting them first. She was a safe space for her friends and family, offering comfort, support, and love whenever it was needed. Alcinda thrived in the kitchen, filling the hearts and bellies of everyone around her with delicious meals. Her deep love for gardening and flowers also reflected her nurturing spirit, as she found peace and joy tending to her garden, which bloomed just as brightly as the love she shared with others.
Her sudden passing has left a deep sorrow in the hearts of all who knew her. While we grieve the loss of such a beautiful soul, we take comfort in knowing that she was not in pain. In her final moments, Alcinda was surrounded by the love of her family, offering peace and solace to us all as she quietly slipped away. Though we will forever miss her presence, we find strength in the love she gave and the memories she leaves behind.
The family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff of Unit GB-2 at HSC. Their compassionate care and unwavering support during this difficult time meant the world to us, and we are forever grateful for the kindness they showed to both Alcinda and our family.
