Albert Lyle Henderson, beloved husband of Donna (Seitz) Henderson, passed away surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 79 on May. 21, 2020 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Albert is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Donna Henderson; his children, Lyle (Julie) Henderson, Shelly (Donald) Hurl, Kevin (Dr. June Dabbagh) Henderson and Deanna (Robert) Fletcher; his sweethearts of grandchildren Jenna (Chad) Richard, Tia (David) Quon, Bailey Henderson, Tyler (Emily Tennant) Henderson, Melissa Fletcher and Ryan Fletcher; and the true apples of his eyes, great grandbabies Levi and Jade Richard and Veda Quon.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers Bob (Patty Johnson) and Gerry (Theresa); and sister-in-law Gwen Henderson. He also leaves behind a legion of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom he cherished.
Albert was predeceased by his parents Rudyard and Florence Henderson; his siblings Margaret (Lyle Smith), Dub, Larry (Vera), Ron, Ed (Vi) and Vernette (Les Allison); and sister-in-law Lynne Henderson.
Albert was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on September 2, 1940. Albert met the love of his life Donna, and they were married on August 16, 1962.
He chose the honorable path of enlisting with the Canadian Armed Forces. He dedicated 20 years of service to the military and was well respected by his peers. He retired as a Master Warrant Officer. He then continued his calling to our nation for an additional 23 years as a civil servant. One highlight of his career was having the privilege of meeting Prince Charles. Albert was an avid coin and model car collector. He enjoyed his western movies, country music, Flapper Pie and playing (and cheating at) many card games, especially crib and euchre. Above all, he was an avid reader. During their retirement years, Albert and Donna loved spending many winters in Mesa, Arizona. They were truly an inseparable pair. He also treasured many Friday nights sitting with his family around a campfire, drinking a nice cold beer and eating pizza.
Albert was loved by many and will be forever missed.
We would like to thank Dr. Harlos as well as the team at Riverview Health Centre, most notably the compassionate Dr. Edward St. Godard for all of their tremendous care during these trying times.
As per his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
