February 20, 1945 – June 27, 2019
Alan Harold Tarr, aged 74, of Lorette Manitoba, died in the early hours of June 27, 2019, at St. Boniface Hospital after an unexpected stroke. Alan was born in Taunton, England on February 20, 1945, to Edith and Sydney Tarr.
In his younger years in England, Alan took up ballroom dancing after being told by his older sister Joan that he had two left feet. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and he was a fantastic cook and adventurous in his culinary creations.
Alan immigrated to Canada in 1965, where he later met his wife of 38 years, Jane Dropko. In Canada, Alan was employed for many years as a chemist at the University of Manitoba, where he worked in medical research.
Alan is survived by his children, Alexander, Sherri and Deryn, grandchildren McKeagan, Conlan, Shannon, Joseph, George, Juliette and Sydney, and sisters Marion and Joan, his first wife Sandra, and several nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his wife Jane, son Sean, mother Edith, father Sydney and granddaughter Lena.
