December 22nd, 1936 – February 10th, 2024
Adelaide (Addie) died peacefully on Saturday February 10th, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.
Addie was the first of three children, born to Unnar (Levy) and Jonina Oddleifson in Winnipeg on December 22nd, 1936.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry and brother Edgar (Gary) Oddleifson, and survived by her sister, Loreen Armbruster. Living on with loving memories and aspiring to her ideals are her children John (Janet), Doug (Libby), Ken, Joanne (Shawn Hamilton), and Karen (Ron Keelan), fourteen grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Addie was a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital before she retired to become a full-time mom. Once her children were grown, she became an Instructor for the Adolescent Parent Centre in the Winnipeg School Division.
Addie was very community oriented, serving on the executive of Varennes Home and School, the council for St. Mary’s Road United Church, and was a long-time member of the All Saints Kinette Club.
She had a life-long commitment to CGIT, a local leader for decades and a member of the national council, Addie spent many summers volunteering as Camp Director, cook, and counsellor for CGIT Camp Brereton, where she was a role model for many young girls.
Addie also coached basketball and was a faithful supporter of all her children’s and grandchildren’s educational, athletic, and artistic endeavors. She also enjoyed a variety of creative pursuits, particularly painting. Many friends and family enjoyed receiving beautiful paintings of special places as gifts. She was loved very much and will be missed.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the palliative care team. Their professionalism and compassion is greatly appreciated.
A celebration of Addie’s life will be held on Sunday, February 25th at 3:00 pm at St. Mary’s Road United Church, 613 St. Mary’s.
Please, instead of flowers donate to the charity of your choice and give a hug to your friends and loved ones.

To Ken, Jenny, Ivan and Lucas. We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your mother and grandmother! Although we did not know her well, we knew her well enough to know she was a very special and lovely lady. Our deepest condolences to you.
