Judith Arlene Carol Dyck

Judith Arlene Carol Dyck

1941 – 2021

The family of Judith Arlene Carol Dyck (nee Bayne) is saddened to announce her passing on December 11, 2021 in her home at Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg, wrapped in the comfort and love of Ernie, family and caring, compassionate staff.

Judy was born in Winnipeg in 1941. She and her dear husband Ernie met in Metz, France in September 1960 and married there shortly after that in June 1961. Together they raised 5 children and moved to various places as they were an Air Force family.

Judy was a stay-at-home mom who cooked large family meals from scratch, skilfully sewed the children’s clothing and entertained with confidence. Once all the children were in school, Judy was happy to begin her long career with Sears in the sewing and vacuum departments. Judy kept life-long friends with those early colleagues at work and enjoyed a very active social life together.

Judy and Ernie purchased property at Grindstone Provincial Park and began building their beloved family cottage in 1977. As the years passed, Judy welcomed her growing family of grandchildren, and close family and friends with warmth and joy. Her extended family were deeply loved, as well. The cottage held a special place in Judy’s heart and she often said it was her happiest times – at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg where life-long friends were made.

Judith is survived by her husband, Ernie, children Donna (Rick), Terry (Catherine), David (Frances), Trevor (Debrah) and Natalie. Left to miss their cherished and generous Nana are Judy’s grandchildren TJ (Heidi), Madison, Zachary, Jacqueline, David, Emory, Brandon and Keenan and great-grandchildren, Finn and Elliot. Tucking them in as children, she would say “I will see you at toast time, dear child.”
Judy was predeceased by siblings Roger, Ron, George Bayne, Lorraine Jack (nee Bayne) and is survived by her sister Beverly Bloomer (nee Bayne).

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Ave, according to COVID-19 protocols and restrictions. Due to limits in capacity, attendees are asked to RSVP with the family at 17802570572 or fandy1@me.com by Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

Should you wish to donate in Judy’s honour, consider Golden West Centennial Lodge at 811 School Road, Winnipeg, to allow them to continue their exemplary care of seniors.
