June 19, 1956 – October 7, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lydia on October 7, 2021 peacefully at home after a three-year battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her loving husband Brian of more than 41 years and her two loving daughters Stephanie (Alex) and Sarah (David), along with her most precious gifts her three granddaughters Isabelle, Florence and Norah who were the light of her life. Lydia also leaves behind her mother Louise; sisters Lynn (Larry) and Cindy (Tom); brothers Wendell (Rachel), Kerry and Randy (Marie); mother-in-law Margaret; sister-in-law Ann Marie and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father James and brother-in-law John.
Lydia was involved in sports from an early age and was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2019 along with her teammates. For over 40 years, Lydia enjoyed her summers on Wildcat Island on Lake of the Woods and upon retirement to Florida, continued her sporting activities including obtaining her pro status in shuffleboard and developing a mean pickleball serve. Lydia will be dearly missed by us all.
Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Never Alone Cancer Foundation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her medical care team for their exceptional care.
“I love you to the moon and back and the stars beyond”

Brian & family. So very sorry to hear of Lydia’s passing this morning. Far too young to leave us. Still remember our Sundays at the Thistle Curling Club. Lots of fun times with the Ashdown curling group. Rest in peace Lydia.

Sarah, David and family…. It is with great sorrow that we heard of your Mom’s passing. She was taken from you and the girls at far too young an age. Please know that we are thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.
