Peacefully after a short illness, Wayne passed away on September 17, 2021 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach at the age of 77 years. He lived in La Salle for the past 20 years.
Surviving Wayne is his wife of 52 years Eileen (nee Mellish); mother Bernice; daughter Heather and husband Gary; along with niece and nephew and families; brother-in-law Henry and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father John and sister Valerie.
He joined the Fort Garry Fire Department in 1966, which later amalgamated with Winnipeg. He retired with the rank of Captain in 1996. He said retirement was the best job he ever had. In retirement, he and Eileen traveled on winter vacations to many sunny locations. When Heather was a child they went on many trips including Disney World and a cruise. He loved his garden, mainly tomatoes. His favorite shopping haunt was Princess Auto; also the Home Depot, Canadian Tire, and Tim’s for coffee.
Being a jack of all trades meant he had three of every tool and “Wayne Tire” was always open for friends and neighbors; both with two legs or four were always welcome to “shop”. The only guy in the neighborhood who always had dog biscuits but no dog.
As per Wayne’s wishes, no service will be held.

May the precious memories you share carry you and ease your broken heart.

Thank you Donna. We thought of your Mom often too.
Ah Donna! I didn’t know Annie passed. She said she wanted to adopt me and was always very kind to me!
