To John William Wyatt Clark of Winnipeg, Manitoba a Railway Porter & served in WWII Canadian Air Force and Joan McLeod (Lamb) of Lancaster, England served in Women’s Auxiliary of England’s Arm Reserve. Carol was joined with sibling Linda in 1948. They all arrived in Canada via ship in 1952 at port of Halifax and travelled to Winnipeg via train.
In 1957 St. Barnabas Dance Revue played at Tec-Voc High School. Carol was assigned a few parts in the programme such as Anything Goes and In a Persian Market, along with her sister playing in Ballet Polka and Tapit Off. Thank you to Margaret (Joan’s sister) for sharing the program.
Carol had a love for books all kinds of books and kept many of them for decades. This held true for her friends as well. All kinds and for decades. LOL. One in particular is extra special as she is still a friend today, Bev Kerr. Carol is known as Mommason to Bev’s children Tara, Shaun and Robin. They are unable to be with us in person but send their condolences from Mississauga, Ontario and Florida. Thank you Bev for all your love and support since 1967.
Carol completed grade 12 at Windsor Park Collegiate, went to RRCC and took Business Admin and completed 2nd level R.I.A. Carol worked throughout her whole life for many people and companies, a few stand out such as; the opportunity to help a local dentist Dr. Jajour as her very first job, which she loved so very much up to 1965, when Christina was born to Grant R. Dunsby. A few years later Carol married Stewart Low and had sons Gregory and Darryl. She became a book keeper, an accountant and CRA for many years. Separated from husband Stewart Low in 1981. She valued her work at Dairy Producers Co-op (aka Manco Foods) 1989 to 1994. A few relationships were established after the finalization of the divorce in 1983. One of which was with her partner Monica Virkutis (aka Mike). Carol moved to Toronto and remarried to Cathy Cavanagh in 1995. Carol was a foster parent for Children’s Aid Society of Toronto from September of 1995 to October of 2003. She took great care and pride caring and nurturing the infants until adoption. One child was extra special, Jennifer was born on June 30th same birth day as her daughter Tina and was adopted 2 1/2 years later by wonderful parents Andy & Lindsay Williams. Carol moved back to Manitoba in 2003 and moved to Boissevain for a couple years before returning to Winnipeg to live with Christina and Shaun. In 2008 Carol purchased a summer camper trailer in Ontario. This special place was known as Sandaraska Park located in Pontypool, Ont. This became her summer retreat for the remainder of her years until 2019 where due to her ill health had to sell and say good bye to her very own sanctuary and many friends. I’d like to extend a warm thank you to all her Sandaraska Park friends for being such a loving family for mom.
Carol had a long history of heart issues including but not limited to a heart attack in 2000 and angina attack in 2006. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in the spring of 2018. She lost her son Greg shortly before diagnosis. After a year of chemo she was given a thumbs up. Cancer was in remission. Thank you to Seven Oaks Hospital for your warmth and support. However, the chemo weakened her heart which caused a lack of circulation to her organs and extremities. Christmas day she was admitted to St. Boniface hospital to be discharged 2 days later with the assumption that her heart issues were solely based on one of her heart medications being the incorrect dosage. On January 14th following a scheduled doctor’s appointment, Carol was re admitted to St. Boniface hospital where she declined in health very quickly and died of septic shock in the early morning of January 18th, 2020.
Rest in Peace mom, Carol, we love you.

Carol was a big part of our fun times at Sandaraska. This is what I want to remember: the times we laughed ourselves breathless, the times we blubbered over sucky movies, the heart to heart talks riding in the car driving to Millbrook or Peterborough or by the campfire, and the extended Happy Hours and late dinners on our deck. She will be missed. We thought we would have more time.
Carol was a member of our retirement community for too short a time. She moved here about a year ago and quickly shared her energies, talent and good will with all. She was kind, funny, smart and tolerant. Excellent credientials for living in an inner city seniors building. She was generous to her friends and volunteered her time and talent to the Residents Association, as our treasurer. She is sorely missed, especially by friends Kaye, Bev, Lois, Betty, Christina, Daniel, Glen, Gerrie, Sue, Taylee and Ester – who also liked to take their breaks outside, She laboured in kitchen alongside our chef, Esther every week – food prep, laundry and all the other things a big meal program requires. Here, she will be really missed.
Above all she was a great neighbour, treated everyone with dignity and respect, was held in high regard, and is a great loss to our community.
