March 26, 1944 – October 28, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend on the 28 of October 2019, at Riverview Health Centre. She went peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was predeceased by her mother Teresa and her father Oscar as well as her son William Alexander.

She will forever be missed by her husband Moises; her only daughter Monica (Eduardo); her sons Moises (Nelly), David and Oscar (Dennise); grandchildren Andrea (Jeremy), Kyra, Tatyana, Jennifer, Victoria, Dillon, Joshua, Mikey and Gerson; one great-grandson Jackson; along with brother, sister, nieces and nephews in Chile.

Margarita was born in Santiago, Chile on March 26, 1944. She moved to Rancagua in 1962 where she met her husband and married the same year. In 1975 the entire family emigrated to Canada to escape the brutal dictatorship. After working briefly, she went on to do what she loved – being a mother and a wife. She loved spending time in her garden until she was no longer able to do so.

In 1995 she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and luckily it progressed very slowly as she tried to live a semi -normal life. She fought courageously until the end when God called her to his side and was finally able to find the repose, she much needed.

The family would like to thank all the very special persons that cared for her during the last few years making her feel loved and giving a sense of normality and dignity to her life. In particular, Diana, Mary, Sandra, Ximena, and her daughter in-law Dennise. We would also like to thank the staff at HSC emergency and Palliative Care Unit for the sensitivity displayed to our family. A final thank you goes to the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit 3E Wing for the amazing work they perform on a daily basis helping families cope with the end of life of their loved ones.

The family has opted to hold a private funeral service at a later time.

We thank you for your thoughts, prayers and condolences.
