Born: December 13, 1949 – Date of Passing: May 28, 2019
On May 28, 2019, we lost our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister Marianne Currie at the age of 69. After a lengthy illness, she passed at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves behind to mourn sons Chris (Allison), Jason (Jackie), Shaun (Nikki), David (Lisa) as well as several grandchildren, a great-grandchild and her sisters Carol, Madelaine, her brother RJ (Carolyn) and sister Joan (Bill). Marianne was predeceased by her parents Mary and Stuart Currie.
Small but mighty, she brought up four boys with little money and lots of resourcefulness and humor. She had a huge capacity for caring that touched all those fortunate enough to know her, people and animals alike and was quick to share anything she had. She loved the simple things like family gatherings, fire pit evenings, card games, bike riding, large cups of coffee and her favorite camping. We will always smile at the memory of the tiny woman on a cushion behind the wheel of a huge car on her way to Spruce Woods
Heaven has gained a beautiful spirit. Though our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same God will call us one by one and our chain will link again. Much love, forever, your family.
Special thanks to Father Sam for conducting the memorial service.
Marianne was known for her love and compassion for animals. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or D’Arcy’s A.R.C.
