December 24, 1934 – March 26, 2019
It is with heart-wrenching sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria Mary Rudkevitch (Lillies) who passed peacefully on March 26th, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Loving daughter, wife, sister and Mother, Victoria was predeceased by her husband Leonard, her parents James and Myrtle Lillies, her sister Vivien Koreluk and her brother-in-law Eugene Hryniuk. She is survived by her children, Roland (Sherry), Darrell, Darwin (Carine), Donny, David and Marina (Doug), her grandchildren Casey (Natalie), Kyle E.D, Rylan, Rachel, Kyle D., Ashley R. (JP), Logan, Wylie, Cora, Jack, Ashley N., Tanner, Adina and Jordan, and her great-grandchildren Avayah, Zachary, Lucas, and Solace as well as her sisters Violet (Ervin), Viola and her brothers Melville (Shirley) and Eric (Karen) and many nieces and nephews.
Victoria was born in the RM of Woodlands on December 24, 1934, and spent the first several years of her life helping her parents working on the farm and taking care of her younger brothers and sisters.
She met her husband Leonard and they were married in 1956. From then on their gypsy caravan headed to the great white north spending many years in Whitehorse, Hay River and Yellowknife. Her husband was never one to stay put very long, so she spent several years in Saskatchewan and Alberta and with the passing of her husband, she returned back to Yellowknife in 1986 to be near her children. In 2001 she returned to her home province of Manitoba where she remained until her passing.
Despite the fact that the effects of dementia were ravaging her mind over the past several years, she continued to take pride and support from the photos of her family surrounding her in her apartment. She would brag about them to whoever would listen, that she was surrounded by her family so don’t mess with her.
She could be quite reserved when it to came to social situations, but she was never shy about telling you if she didn’t share your opinion. She met everyone with a smile and a “hello” until the end and her laughter will ring in our ears forever.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and help in making her comfortable in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street, Winnipeg MB.
