Surrounded by loved ones, on the afternoon of December 3, at the age of 93, Eileen Rathert, passed away peacefully.
Eileen’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her Children, Cheryl Telford (Bill), Merle Rathert-Houle (Dave) & Rod Rathert (Val); her grandchildren: Tracey, Misty, Kevin, Kaitlyn, & Amanda; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and her beloved husband, Harold.
Eileen was born on February 13, 1925, and was raised in Brunkild, Manitoba, where she graduated from High School. Active in her local church, she played the organ for eleven years, not missing a single service. As a young woman, Eileen moved to Winnipeg and worked in the aviation industry in the service of her country during the Second World War. Later, while raising a family, she and Harold owned and operated Roger’s Car Cleaners for many years.
Eileen’s final years were spent happily in a senior’s residence where she enthusiastically engaged in many activities and outings with her friends.
We will greatly treasure the memories of the times we shared together. She was a gracious host for our family Christmas Eve gatherings, Friday night dinners, and Saturday evening get-togethers.
She loved to travel…she loved her family…and oh how she loved her Bombers and Jets.
At her request, there will be a private family ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Our thanks to the staff of the fourth floor of Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion, and her home care team who helped her to maintain her independence.
