Ronald Victor Davies

November 14, 1935 – April 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Victor Davies, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Winnipeg at Beacon Hill Lodge on April 11, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Born in Pigeon Lake, Manitoba, on November 14, 1935, Ron dedicated his life to hard work and cherished his family and friends. He served in the military in Germany from the age of 18 to 21, an experience that shaped his early years.

Returning to Winnipeg, Ron eventually became a dedicated bus driver for the City of Winnipeg Transit System for over 28 years, serving his community with commitment. Not one to stay idle, after retiring at 65, Ron continued to work as a commissionaire at the Kapyong Barracks until the age of 84, demonstrating his strong work ethic and continued engagement.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, his companion Cheryl, three brothers, and two sisters. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his son, Randy; his daughter, Kim, and her partner, Mike; his granddaughters, Melissa and Randi; his great-grandchildren, Matthew and Malerie; his sister, Eunice; and his brothers, Don and Eddy.

Beyond his work, Ron enjoyed simple pleasures and had a variety of interests. He cherished playing crib and other card games, and hunting was a significant pastime he enjoyed. He was also a dedicated fan of his hometown sports teams, enthusiastically watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) and the Winnipeg Jets (NHL). In addition to these, Ron also enjoyed watching curling. Ron also held the distinguished position of president at the Royal Canadian Legion Montecassino Branch for a time, reflecting his connection to the veteran community. In his leisure, Ron enjoyed taking drives to Lockport for a hot dog, trying his luck at the slot machines at South Beach Casino and Mahnomen, listening to his favorite singer, George Jones, and keeping up with the news by reading the paper daily.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba.

Cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held as per Ron’s wishes.

I will miss you dearly, Grandpa.
