Kerri-Anne Mitchell
(Scooter)
October 30, 1990 – January 26, 2025
It breaks my heart to announce the sudden passing of Kerri-Anne on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 34.
Kerri leaves to mourn her mother, Karen Mitchell; aunts, Diane Irvine, Dawn Arason, and Debbie Mitchell – who gave her the nickname Keggianne; uncle Blair Mitchell; great aunts, Sharon Hansen, and Linda Page; and boyfriend Eric (Rick) Guntel; along with numerous cousins, extended family members and friends. She mostly will be missed by her two closest friends who were here to help through all her struggles, Candace Traa who was considered like an adopted sister, and Landon Murray who she has known for over 15 years. He called her his sister, and Care Bear.
Kerri was predeceased by her father Rudolph Meijering, grandfather William Blair Mitchell, grandmother Patricia Mitchell (Durado), great grandfather Albert Durado, great grandmothers Jean Clark (Dunbar) and Catherine Durado (Trefiak), her good friends Richard Grant – better known as her brother and Steven Rodgers, and her partners in crime for 5 years, known as Jibby and Jizzy Jenkins who knew each other for 20 years.
Kerri was born and raised in Transcona all her life. She attended Ecole Margaret Underhill for Kindergarten through grade4, Harold Hatcher for grade 5, Arthur Day Jr High Grades 6-8, and Murdock Mackay Collegiate Grades 9-12, where she graduated in 2008 with a Dual-Diplomacy in French and Academic.
Kerri loved swimming and she was very passionate about horseback riding since the age of 9 years old. What she treasured the most were her two horses Twist which she had since she was 12 years old and Mara; dogs Franklin (Frankie), and Tater Tot (Tater) and cats Abigail (Abby), and Tim Bit.
Kerri always had a normal childhood with her grandmother, aunty Debbie, and her mother. Kerri was diagnosed at an early age with Multiple Personality Disorder (chemical imbalance) and Mania (Manic Syndrome) which affects her ability to function in ways that we were told could be a struggle for her in everyday life. Being told this did not hold her back. In 2011 she put herself through College as a Support Worker and received a scholarship for an average of 90%. After Kerri graduated, she went to work at BHF Behavioral Health Foundation in St Norbert for 7 years until the facility closed in June 2018, because of lack of funding from the Government. From there she continued her career up until COVID-19 when the facility where she was last working closed the outreach project down which she enjoyed. She was working 2-3 jobs at times because she was passionate in her field as she loved helping people. Kerri-Anne was always known as a quiet, hard worker and her co-workers enjoyed working with her.
Kerri-Anne was a very loyal friend and gave help and care to anyone who was in need. She always had a big heart and loved and respected everyone.
Kerri had an addiction to candy and ice cream. If your ice cream went missing, you know who took it. No ice cream was safe when Kerri-Anne was around; she would even have it for breakfast. She would forget that she was lactose intolerant and would suffer most of the day.
When Kerri was young, she was obsessed with porcelain and Barbie dolls. In her adulthood, she was known for her collection of pens, makeup, and wigs. She always said that when she put a wig on, she felt like a different person with a different personality,
Kerri will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew her.
Rest in peace Kerri-Anne
