It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Hildebrand on January 18, 2025, at the age of 88 years.

Left to cherish her memory are children Connie Knight, Ken Hildebrand (Bev.), and Karen Gardner (Dave); grandsons Grant, Blair, and Derrick; sister Agnes; brother-in-law Pete and sisters-in-law Katie and Mary. She was predeceased by her husband Abe, sisters Tien, Suzy, and Mary, brothers Dave, Isaac, Peter, and Bill, and son-in-law David Knight.

Olga was born in Winkler and spent her early years on a nearby farm. Later the family moved to Carman where she eventually met her true love, Abe. They married in 1956 and moved to Brandon, where they settled and raised their three children. She dedicated herself to being a devoted, kind, and caring wife and mother. She pampered her grandsons with their favorite foods and loved the visits and phone calls from them. Olga welcomed company and always had wonderful home cooking or baking for them. Many nieces and nephews thought of her as the ‘fun’ aunt. Olga’s lifelong pastime was playing her beloved piano, especially when her brothers and sisters visited and joined in. She also loved spending time in her garden, caring for her vegetables and many beautiful flowers. Her other interests included crocheting, bowling, and watching her favorite sports. On many weekends she could be found at garage sales with her neighbours finding bargains and treasures.

After Abe passed away, Olga remained in Brandon until health issues required a move to Winnipeg in 2021.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at West Park Manor. We cannot thank them enough for their exceptional care and compassion they showed every single day.

As per Olga’s wishes, there will be no formal service. After cremation, Olga will be laid to rest with her husband in Brandon at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, West Park Manor Personal Care Home, or a charity of your choosing.
