March 12th, 1979 – December 19th, 2024
Heather passed peacefully on December 19th, 2024 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg from complications with several health conditions over the last few years.
Heather is survived by her son Vaughn, mother Darlene, sister Erika, grandmother Marilyn, uncle Doug and aunt Rhona, and other family, cousins and friends.
Heather was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 12th, 1979, and had a happy life. She loved camping, sharing many experiences with her mother, family and friends at Bird’s Hill Park, Great Woods, and White Dog. Heather had a very social life, making friends easily in the neighbourhoods she lived in over the years. She was very fond of music, and was always winning tickets to concerts, often sharing these experiences with her son. Her love of music and camping flowed through to her many years volunteering at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in the family area.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff on ward GD-2 and the WHA palliative care team who took good care of Heather in her final days. Another thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, care aides and other professionals who tended to Heather throughout the years.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held in the spring or summer of 2025.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Health Sciences Center Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation.
Poem for Heather 12.22.24
I’ve lost a friend who’s more than a memory
She was my sweet niece who’s always loved me
I still have the drawings that she did
On birthday cards she made as a kid
I’ll cherish these memories as long as I’m here
My sweet, sweet Heather how I wish you were here
From, Uncle Doug

To Heather’s family,
I’m saddened to hear of the loss of such a young soul. I know she suffered a lot but now she isn’t suffering anymore. It was an honour to care for Heather, even on her worst days. Enjoy hanging out with your kitty cats up there. Thought and prayers to you all 🩵
