1936 – 2024
Bob passed away peacefully early in the morning of September 5th, 2024 at the age of 88.
He was predeceased by his son Paul; parents John & Eugenia Graham, brother John (Joyce) Graham, brother Fred (Joan) Graham, & sister Joan (Carmine) Valente. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years Joan (Fryatt); Daughter Brenda & numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 10th, 1936, the third of 4 children. He began working at the Winnipeg Free Press in 1952 & retired in 1996 after 44 years of service. Tragically his son Paul passed away later that same year.
Bob was a very private person, not wanting to be the center of attention. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed fishing, wood carving & painting, He also enjoyed DIY building projects, even finishing what he started. Two projects he was most proud of was building a dollhouse for his daughter as a child complete with tiny hinges on the doors, a spiral staircase & a miniature fireplace that worked on batteries. His other project was his garden shed which he built himself when he was in his late 70s.
Once he retired from working he took over the cooking in the home. He had the ability to read a recipe once & have it memorized. Some of his favorite dishes were vegan & vegetarian as well as cinnamon rolls.
Although he wouldn’t admit it Bob loved animals, especially cats. He would complain about cat hair on the furniture & his clothes but would move the furniture so as the cats got older they wouldn’t hurt themselves jumping up & down to look out the window. He will be missed by his grandkitties Jake & Spider.
Bob took great pride in his yard, especially his fruit trees & vegetable garden. He was known on the street for having the best lawn, the best garden, the best cleaned driveway in the winter. He insisted on shovelling his own snow until he was 83 years old, saying no one else could do it right; eventually he admitted defeat & hired someone to do that for him.
At Bob’s request cremation has taken place & there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be held for him at a later date.
If desired you are welcome to make a donation in Bob’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, the Winnipeg Foundation, Osu Children’s Library Fund, St Amant, or a charity of your choice.

A beautifully written obituary. I can only imagine Brenda’s excitement at seeing his lovingly made dollhouse.
You are lucky to have had such a talented, kind soul of a man for a Father, Brenda. We are keeping You and your Mom in our prayers. He was a good man indeed & You did a great job portraying a glimpse of all he was.❤️
