July 12, 1962 – February 18th, 2024
Heather, born on July 12, 1962, to Gerald and Joyce Newbiggin, peacefully passed away on February 18th.
Heather was the cherished 4th daughter of the Newbiggin family, beloved sister to Linda, Debbie, Nancy, and John. Known affectionately as ‘Hub’ since childhood, Heather’s warmth and affection endeared her to all who knew her.
Heather’s journey took her from Salisbury School in Morse Place to various places, eventually leading her back to Winnipeg, where she began her own family in 1984. She welcomed her daughter, Jennie, into the world and later met the love of her life, Tim Durkin, along with her son Justin. Together, they built their dream home in Ste. Genevieve, crafting a paradise filled with love and laughter.
An avid lover of animals, Heather found joy in the company of her dogs, the thrill of riding motorcycles with Tim, and the serenity of camping and hiking. Her genuine warmth and boundless love touched the lives of all she encountered, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and compassion.
Heather is survived by her devoted husband, Tim; her loving children, Jennie and Justin; and her adoring grandchildren, Lincoln, Meadow, Decklan, Sloanne, Everly, and Elodie. She also leaves behind her sisters, Linda, Debbie, and Nancy, along with numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and countless others who were touched by her presence.
A celebration of Heather’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor her memory and share cherished stories of her remarkable life. In her absence, Heather will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her radiant spirit and unwavering love.

I had the privilege of working with Heather over the last 3 years. Heather was an amazing lady and will truly be missed. Every time we saw each other she had nothing but pride and excitement in her voice, as she told me stories about her grandchildren, whom she loved the most! On behalf of the Miller family, my sincere condolence to the entire family.
I know Heather as a colleague when I was working at Premier. She was a nice person and I will keep very good memories about her.
Please accept my deepest condolances.
