Robert William Buckmaster

Robert William Buckmaster

1941 – 2023

Robert William Buckmaster, 82, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on September 4, 2023, at the Health Science Centre after a short illness.

Robert was born in Lac Du Bonnet in 1941.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Hilda Buckmaster, and brother Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Diane (David), Dawn, Michael, and Steven (Jen); his many grandchildren, Miranda (Devon), Melissa (Nick), Kiya (Sam), McKenna (Alex), Kaeden (Anna), Preston, Logan, Ryker; as well as many life-long friends and neighbors.

An arborist by trade and an avid nature boy, he loved the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passion. He was well known in his neighborhood, helping others whenever there was a need, mowing grass, pruning trees, working on lawnmowers and cars, or whatever needed fixing.

He had the gift of gab and could entertain you for hours with his stories, theories, antidotes, and his fun facts, which sometimes could be a little embellished. He could talk to anyone, at any time, about anything! He had a great group of friends who got together every day for coffee to solve the problems of the world.

He had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. Robert was also a co-parent for close to 140 foster kittens at the Humane Society for many years.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 426 Osborne St., on Wednesday, September 20th from 2:00 to 6:00.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Cancer Crossing or The Winnipeg Humane Society.

  1. Dear Linda, So sorry to hear about Bob. He will be missed by all. Condolances to you and your family.

  2. I was so sorry to hear that Bob had passed away. He was so helpful to me with dealing with trees and weeds and he and Michael even took down a tool shed and disposed of the debris for me. He also made sure that I knew I could ask him for help with anything after Fraser passed away in 2020 and I was so grateful for that. My condolences to the entire family.

  3. I want to honor my Uncle Bob by thanking him for being here for me when others couldn’t be. He always listened even if he had to get a few stories in first! When it came down to it, my Uncle helped me through a lot and I will never forget it. I wish I could be with family to share stories. Uncle Bob, thank you for what you gave me all these years. And thank you for believing me. I love you and will miss you.

  4. Linda and family
Sorry to read about Bob’s passing. He was a great guy. Last time I saw him he was cutting down trees around the pool at my daughter and son-in law’s place out in Garson, which was quite some time ago..
I am sure he will be missed by those who knew him.

  5. So sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. I enjoyed the many conversations that we had at McDonald’s while enjoying coffee. Bob was always very entertaining. Linda#1, please take care. You are in my thoughts and prayers. (From Linda#2)
