It is with heavy hearts and sadness the family announces Ken’s passing on December 13, 2022.
A life-long resident of Winnipeg, Ken attended Gordon Bell High School. He pursued a career in business, working in management for companies including Bristol Aerospace, Christie Biscuits, K-Tel International and the Sony Corporation.
Prior to his retirement in 2011, Ken spent 25 years as General Manager and partner at Humphrey Products, a local window and door manufacturing company. Ken’s weekends were spent enjoying time at his cottages, initially in Belair, Manitoba and later in Pinawa. There he enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, golfing, maintaining the yard and cruising the waters on his much loved pontoon boat.
Ken and Audrey enjoyed 5 consecutive winters in Phoenix in the Glendale area, where they quickly made friends with other Canadians at the condo complex, several of whom became friends for life. Living in the same home in North Kildonan for over 42 years, the neighbours were a big part of Ken’s life and felt more like family. His back patio and garage were always open if you needed a tool, a cord, a lawn mower, a snow blower or a cold beverage, Ken was able to help.
Ken loved his TV’s and sound systems (the bigger, the better) and happily hosted many Grey Cup parties, special family and neighbourhood gatherings and movie nights over the years. He was a huge fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers holding season tickets for 20 years and attending three Grey Cup games. Ken enjoyed following world affairs and politics, seeing the latest movies, reading and hearing updates about his grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Audrey of 52 years and daughters Tamara (Bryce) and Lindsay. He will also be missed by grandchildren Carson, Ryan & Rhys and Levi & Madelyn. He is survived by a brother, Don and a sister. Ken was predeceased by his parents and brother Dennis.
At Ken’s request cremation has taken place.
A private family interment will occur at the Ukrainian National Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Ken’s life at Rossmere Golf and Country Club, 925 Watt Street, on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Moltzan and nurse Kelly of CancerCare Manitoba and family physician Dr. Duerksen for the excellent care and support Ken received during his journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, in honour of Ken.
Vichnaya Pam’yat.

Dear Audrey:
I am deeply saddened to learn of Ken’s passing. I worked for Christie’s in the early 70s. When Ken came on board, we became instant friends. I loved his humour, quick wit and his engagement with people. Often, we would go out for a quick beer after work (not unknown to you or my husband.) We would laugh uncontrollably at the events of the day at the office. We both loved fishing. Ken painstakingly with diagrams and instruction showed me how to properly fillet a pickerel, a technique I still use today. I resigned from Christie’s in November 1976, prior to the birth of our first child. On my last day of work, Ken showed up with a HUGE waist high stuffed poodle. He said it was from Tammy (Tamara) his first born, who I remember being born in October 1975. (correct me if I am wrong) Both my girls enjoyed that great big stuffed dog for many years. These are the precious memories I remember about Ken. My sincere condolences to you Audrey, your girls and their families.
Audrey, we have so many great memories of times spent with you and Ken over the past ten years. We always had great fun whether we were in Phoenix, at the lake, or just watching a movie. Ken was such a cheerful guy it was great to have him around. His absence creates a void that won’t be filled. He and Wayne were such good buddies.
We’re sorry for your loss and know that you miss Ken terribly. We hope that memories of your life together will sustain you through this difficult time.
Carol & Wayne
