It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Anna Marie Bragg, beloved mother, sister, and friend, on June 9, 2022 at the age of 72 from liver cancer.
Remaining with cherished memories are her daughters Elanor “Ellie” and Kathleen “Kate”; brother James; sisters-by-choice Angie, Doris, Grace and Patsy; former husband and father to her daughters, Tom; and many adored cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Gene and Catherine, sisters Paula and Pat, and treasured Pomeranian, Minky.
Anna was born in Argentia, NL on May 1, 1950. She spent most of her childhood and teenage years traveling with her family as her father worked with the US Air Force, with home base being in Virginia. She first moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1973 and, after living in various cities in Canada throughout the years mostly St. John’s, NL while her daughters grew up, she finally returned home to Winnipeg, MB in 2005.
Although faced with much adversity in her life, Anna was steadfast and compassionate. She was described as sweet and kind by all who knew her. Anna loved to laugh loudly and make others laugh, especially her daughters. She had a deep passion for music and was a rocker through and through. Known as Annie to her friends, she loved The Doors, The Guess Who, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. She loved to sing with her daughters, attend concerts, share delicious meals with her family and friends as well as learn about other cultures and enjoy food from around the world, especially anything spicy. Family, fun and food were all much loved by Annie. Her smile, laugh, and beautiful singing voice will be remembered by all that knew her.
Anna was a devoted Catholic throughout her life and an avid volunteer in various organizations, such as the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association and Diabetes Canada. In the spirit of Anna’s lifelong altruism, a donation in her name may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, United Way or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Anna’s family would like to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital for taking such great care with Anna in her final days, and for their compassion and support.
A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, section F, on June 24th at 12:00 pm CST.
Annie will be forever loved and missed by her daughters and all who knew her. Annie would want her loved ones to get the most out of life and, as she would often say, keep on rockin’!
