October 31, 1939 – March 13, 2022
It is with grateful hearts after a well-lived life that we announce the unexpected passing of Marjorie, beloved wife of Albert at the age of 82 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (John), Douglas (Josie) and Marilyn (Roger); grandchildren Matthew, Evan (Crysanne) and Laura, Emily, Alyssa and Michelle, Jordan, Jeremy and Lucas; great-grandchild Ava; her sister Doris; brothers, Norman and Brian; along with extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Clifford and Albert’s parents.
Marge was born in Steinbach on October 31, 1939. She was raised on the family farm and attended Oswald School. She met Albert in 1958. She knew Albert was the one when he arrived on the farm with his brand new 1957 green Chevrolet pick-up truck. They were married on June 4, 1960, and they shared 61 years of happiness together.
After living on their own farm, they relocated to Winnipeg in 1967. They raised their three children in the Morse Place area surrounded by many great friends and neighbors. They continued to maintain family connections in the Steinbach area and in 1974 they purchase a 12-acre hobby farm on Kokomo Road. This was definitely their happy place. She ensured that the grandchildren were always surrounded with love and activity. They had campfires, John Deere gator rides, snowmobiling, and walking through the trails. Many fun memories for all. When Albert retired in 1997, the decision was made to move back to the hobby farm permanently. She definitely had a green thumb and enjoyed her large one-acre garden while growing pretty much everything. Along with the traditional fare, she also grew grapes, cacti, cherries, and gooseberries. She really enjoyed her flower garden and they were a source of pride. In 2019 they moved back to Winnipeg and enjoyed being closer to their children and grandchildren.
She loved to bake and everyone looked forward to her butter tarts, fruit and date cookies. Her chicken noodle soup and dill pickles were also a big favorite. She was always so proud of her grandchildren, whether attending graduations, sporting events or just visiting. They will remember her “candy drawer” which was always fully stocked for them. She enjoyed life fully and we are forever grateful for the gift of time we had with her.
A private viewing and cremation has taken place. As requested by Marjorie, there will be no formal service.
