October 17, 1942 – January 29, 2022
With his loving wife and three sons by his side, James Stuart Lockie passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years Jeanette, nee Schellenberg; sons Jamie (Mae), David (Kelly) and Don; grandchildren Dana (Logan), Kristen and Owen; brother and sisters-in-law Gary (Jan), Jim (Judy), Roger (Fran) and Terryl (Doug); numerous nephews, nieces, and many wonderful friends, most of whom Jim knew since childhood. He was predeceased by his brother Bob and sister-in-law Cathy.
Jim was born on October 17, 1942 in Winnipeg, MB to James and Edna Lockie. Jim married his childhood sweetheart Jeanette on August 25, 1962. Jim had a rewarding career at the Department of National Defence, retiring as the Senior Draughtsman after 29 years of service. Jim was a voracious reader and had many interests in music, radio shows and movies. He was an avid outdoorsman and a huge fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets. Jim will always be remembered for his friendly, kindhearted nature and his vast knowledge of trivia, and interesting facts.
The family cabin at Laclu, Ontario was a big part of his life and had a special place in his heart since he was born. Jim loved being a “Winter Texan”, enjoying 10 wonderful years in San Benito, after having had many adventures in their camper “Casper” travelling throughout the USA and Canada.
A private family service was held on February 3, 2022.

I’m sorry for your loss.
My condolences and blessings, Jeanette and boys. Will always remember your beautiful, youthful wedding- almost 60 years ago. Take care, and may Jim be at peace, and his body at rest. Love you, love, Patti💜🙏💔
From the day I met him, Jim always made me feel like a member of his family. He was such an incredibly kindhearted and welcoming person, and genuinely made every room he walked into a brighter place.
I have very fond memories of going to Jim and Jeanette’s home for Christmas every year, where they were both always such welcoming and gracious hosts. Jim always went out of his way to make you feel like his home was yours.
Sending our condolences and love to you all during this difficult time.

Sincere condolences from your former neighbours on the other side of the island, Remembering Jim’s good heartedness with the blueberry u-pick and eagle tours. He will be missed.
Jamie and Family,
My sincerest condolences on the passing of your father.
Sincerest condolences to Jeanette and the family.
I have fond memories of working with Jim over the years, many of them were humorous.
I remember when he first came to work with us at DND and one day Jim came up to the drafting room from the coffee room with coffee cup in hand and advised that he had just met Corporal Schmidlin. It was actually Colonel Schmidlin he had met. That was Jim’s first lesson in the military rank structure. It seemed funny at the time.
Another incident occurred during one of our annual golf tournaments. Jim was chipping his ball onto the green and overshot a little. His ball hit Bill Dinney in the left rear cheek. Bill turned around a little peeved, saw who it was and just laughed. Almost like a scene out of groundhog day.
Jim usually saw the humor in the situation.
