Peacefully on January 12, 2022 at the age of 94 Carmel passed away. She was predeceased by her first husband Alphonse; her parents and siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Gordon; children Claudette, Denis (Beverly) and Sylvia (Paul); her grandchildren Jonathan (Meaghan) and Shaundra; and great-grandchildren Paige, Parker and “the adopted one” Arlene; and step-children Keith and Sherry. Also left to mourn are her many relatives and special friends.
Carmel had a true love of life. She enjoyed entertaining, golfing, playing cards, cribbage, dancing, and travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska. Her true love, however, was her family cottage at Falcon Lake where many special memories were made.
She was most noted for her baking of bread, cinnamon buns, pate, and tourtiere. She always had a place at the table for you to enjoy her special cooking and laughter. In the early years Carmel worked at Canada Packers and in her later years was employed by St. Boniface General Hospital.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Seven Oaks General Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Abbott, for the wonderful care given to our wife and mother.
Due to COVID restrictions, a gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
We will miss you. Rest in peace Mom.
