Nestor Thedor Lulashnyk

Nestor Thedor Lulashnyk

July 18, 1946 – July 14, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nestor Thedor Lulashnyk. He was born on July 18, 1946, to Steven Lulashnyk and Cassie Lulashnyk (Shewchuk) in Dauphin, Mb, and passed on July 14, 2024. He had great relationships with his many siblings, Olga Janssen (Leonard), Ernie Lulashnyk (Pat), Isadore Lulashnyk (Delores), Vicky Ross (Roy), Rose Davies and Violet Dehaney (Bill). He will be missed by all, especially his three daughters Corina Turcotte (Maurice), Angela Lulashnyk (Greg) and Marcie Lulashnyk (Glen). Nestor adored his five grandchildren, Ketri Lulashnyk (Marc), Phoenix Lulashnyk, Logan Lulashnyk, Christian Lulashnyk, and Francois Turcotte.

Nestor enjoyed cooking the best Ukrainian meals for his family and friends, and there was no question that he made the best perogies hands down. He was a kind, caring selfless person, who helped anyone who needed anything. He loved life and enjoyed his 10-kilometer walks usually at Kildonan Park. There he loved meeting new friends and feeding the birds. In fact, he was so proud of getting birds eating out of the palm of his hands. He loved it so much that he brought all his grandchildren to the park to enjoy it. For his career, he was a computer programmer analyst which he excelled in his career at the Norquay building in Agriculture.

He fell in love with Lynn Viznaugh and grew routes in Transcona. He was a Jaycee and volunteered to help his community because that was the kind of giving person Nestor was.

Nestor loved playing card games and playing dice. He enjoyed playing bingo where he could meet up with more friends. He was strongly committed to his religion and went to church faithfully and volunteered selflessly there too. He loved history and was working on getting roads built for some of his ancestor’s graves in Dauphin. Recently, Nestor found a new love Halyna, who he was going to marry.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral on 1175 Main Street. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. Following the interment, a reception will be held at Royal Canadian Legion, Henderson Highway Branch #215, 215 Maxwell King Drive, in East St Paul.

RIP dad, you will be forever missed by so many.

I would like to extend my sympathies to the family of my mother’s cousin, Nestor ( Anne Lulashnyk Rognvaldson, d.mar29 2024). I recall playing with Nestor and his siblings when they would visit my grandparents (his aunt and uncle; Minnie and Demytri Lulashnyk). I appreciate hearing about Nestors successful and well-lived life enriched with family and love, qualities characteristic of Lulashnyk values.

I have fond memories of Nester’s life with Lynn and the girls. We had a very special visit when they all came to visit me on Vancouver Island. My heartfelt condolences to Corinna, Marcie and Angie.

I would like to give my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Nester. He was my late mother’s cousin (Eugenia Lulashnyk died Nov.8/17)
I appreciated his daughter valuing her father’s
Love of his friends and family and taking the time to connect and inform each contact in his phone list.
I remember Nester well, as he reminded me of the next generation in reflecting the character and looks of my grandfather, Metro Lulashnyk.
Nester always left the impression with me that
“We were able to pick up where we left off,
    Sharing about the family circle.”
Very sorry he left us too soon. ♥️

We met through our careers in Agriculture. He was always so cheerful and ready to help out with any computer questions I had which were many.
My husband & I also remember his special visit to our house, in Minnedosa, when he was on his way to the Dauphin Ukrainian Festival. He had a couple of his grandchildren with him which he wanted us to meet.
I will miss his yearly Christmas Calls to catch up on what had happened during the year and the updates on his children & grandchildren.
Nestor became a wonderful friend which we will always cherish.

We are on our way back to Manitoba and Northern Ontario when I learned of my mother’s (Olga Lulashnyk Seller) cousin Nestor’s passing. He was such a caring and supportive person to me and my mother, making the effort to come and visit us in the summer at our family cottage on Granite Lake. He always brought food and pictures and stories of family members to make sure I knew more about the Lulashnyk family. He would also bring my mother’s cousin Olga with him and other family relatives. At a family funeral in Dauphin Manitoba a few years ago Nestor took us to our great grandparents’ graveyard and enlisted our support to advocate for a road to the graveyard so other family members could visit. I will miss him this summer and forever but so thankful to have spent many wonderful times with him. Love and caring to Nestor’s family.

I first met Nestor at the home of Pani Halyna’s daughter at Christmas time this past year. He was a kind and generous man and quickly became Halyna’s chauffeur and friend. They had a genuine friendship, as she helped him improve his Ukrainian speaking, while he taught her English. I was so sorry to hear of his tragic passing before he could marry his new love! Vichnaya Pamyat dear Nestor!!
