Tyler Patrick Yarema

February 19th, 1979 – November 29th, 2021

With heartbreak, we announce the tragic passing of Tyler Yarema at the age of 42. He was loved by many friends and family.

Left to cherish Tyler’s memory are his mother, Marlene Yarema; brother Kyle Yarema; brother Kelly (Jan) Yarema; sister Marla (Erik) Kendall; nieces and nephews Lindsay, Andrew, Luc, Megan, Nicole, April and Emily; special aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Canada and the United States. Tyler considered many close friends as his family.

Tyler was predeceased by his beloved father, Anthony Yarema; Grandmother Ruth Ethier; and grandparents Patrick and Evelyn Yarema.

Tyler grew up in East St. Paul. He attended Dr. Hamilton School, Robert Andrews Junior High and Kildonan East Collegiate for carpentry, graduating in 1997. He was a very mischievous child and was often a challenge in the classroom, teasing all the girls. He continued his studies at Red River College and completed the Carpentry Apprenticeship Program from 1999 – 2003, achieving his Red Seal.

As a child, Tyler built forts in the fields behind his childhood home. His passion for carpentry turned into a self-employed career framing houses, roofing, windows, decks, fences, and household renovations. Throughout his twenty-year career, he had his own construction business, Yarema Construction, and worked for multiple companies, including Kensington Homes, Qualico Homes, and STAR Building.

Another passion of his was playing sports, especially hockey. Tyler played hockey for many teams throughout his career, such as the East St. Paul Aces, River East Marauders, Winnipeg Sharks, Winnipeg Selects, Winnipeg South Blues, and River East Royal Knights. In 1994, he was invited to try out for WHL teams, including the Kamloops Blazers, Calgary Hitmen, and Moose Jaw Warriors. In the 2000-2001 year, Tyler scored a natural hat trick in a series final with the Royal Knights; the team went on to win the championship that season. With the assistance of his father, Tony, they organized and led a senior men’s hockey team called the East St. Paul Kings from 2004 – 2007.

Tyler also enjoyed playing baseball as a teenager, playing for the Elmwood Giants. As an adult, he started playing softball and spongee with family and friends. He made many lifelong friends through sports, leaving a mark in many people’s hearts. He was big-hearted, fun, and always contributed hilarious non-filtered commentary. He had the loudest voice in a room and made his presence known.

Tyler will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tyler’s memory to KidSport Manitoba, 145 Pacific Ave, Wpg, MB, R3B 2Z6 (204-925-5911).

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
