Scott Leonard Lakatos

Scott Leonard Lakatos
February 3, 1994 – April 7, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected and far too soon passing of Scott (Scotty) Leonard Lakatos, on April 7, 2024, at the age of 30.

Scott was born on February 3, 1994, to Brian and Karen Lakatos in Winnipeg. Scott attended George McDowell School, Glenlawn Collegiate, and graduated from welding at Red River College. Scott was a cherished son, brother, and friend. Scott touched the lives of many with his witty demeanor and big smile.

Scotty will forever be remembered for his kindness. Scott would never hurt anyone, always rooted for the underdog, would lend a helping hand whenever he could, and would put everyone else’s needs before his own.

Scott was an outdoorsman, he loved camping, boating, and going fishing especially for a big Musky. Throughout Scott’s life he always had love and compassion for animals, especially dogs. Scott loved attending country music festivals with his buddies and being in the mountains snowboarding.

Scott appreciated the simple things in life and gave 100%.

Scott had a commitment to efficiency and was a perfectionist with hobbies. When playing video games Scott would always try to max out stats as best as possible.

Scott was a strong and gritty defenseman in hockey, who loved to rush the puck and take slap shots. In his younger years, he loved body contact and was fearless in making big checks. He was given the name Scotty Stevens by parents on the hockey team. In his adult life, Scott played hockey with his brothers through the Dakota league – this was something that the brothers shared and their definition of quality brother time.

Left to cherish Scotty’s precious memory are his parents Karen and Brian Lakatos, oldest brother Tim Lakatos, sister-in law Kaitlyn Lakatos, older brother Brett Lakatos, and sister-in-law Liz Lakatos.
As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Scott will also be missed by his fur-nieces Izzy, Indie, Sparrow, Storm, and Shadow – who he always loved taking care of. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all of the love and support through this trying time.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at the Dakota Community Centre Gym, 1188 Dakota Street on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:00pm.

Lesley and I were extremely saddened to hear of Scotty’s passing. We have very fond memories of Scotty playing hockey with our son, Ken. Ken’s Uncle attended many of their games and compared Scotty’s style of play to that of the hard hitting Scott Stevens. He also called Scotty “crazy legs” for his unique skating style 😁.
In the summer months, I would often see Scotty cutting the grass at his parent’s house and I got great pleasure in stopping the car and saying a quick hello. We will always remember Scotty as a great teammate and a well mannered, soft spoken kid.
Our sincere condolences to the entire Lakatos family.

Lesley and I were very saddened to hear of Scotty’s passing. We have known Scotty since he played hockey with our son Ken at age nine. Ken’s Uncle attended many of their hockey games and was so impressed with Scotty that he referred to him as Scott Stevens, after the hard hitting NHL defence man. He also referred to Scotty as “crazy legs” for his unique skating style 😁. I have found memories of stopping to exchange pleasantries with Scotty over the years as he was cutting the grass at Brian and Karen’s home.
We will always remember Scotty as a great teammate to our son Ken and a soft spoken, well mannered “kid”.
Our condolences go out to the entire Lakatos family.
