February 17, 1953 – June 15, 2019

Samuel George Watson, age 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Pinawa Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 17, 1953, in Winnipeg, to Richard “Dick” and Mary (McWilliams) Watson.  He married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Martin in 1974 and together they raised their children Keith and Jennifer in the family home he built in West St. Paul, MB. He had a passion for solving mechanical problems both at work and at home, displaying a wonderful knack for skills in all trades. Sam had an uncanny ability to fix anything and loved helping others; often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. Sam truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; working in the garage, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, travelling, camping, spending time with friends, family and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; son, Keith, daughter-in-law, Susanne and their children Nolan and Katie; daughter, Jennifer and son in law, Kristopher Lehfellner; brother, Tom Watson; sister, Julie (Rudy) Huver; sister Susan (Ken) Sigardson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send their sincerest gratitude to Dr. M. Bruneau and staff of Pinawa Hospital for their care and compassion.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Sam touched are invited to the Celebration of Life at Northwood Community Centre at 1415 Burrows Ave, from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honour of Sam’s name and his love for animals.

SAM will be remembered at Air Canada by many of us. We have many good memories in work and outside of work. What comes to memory is the cold winter nights he would work on friends cars and keep us warm with a wood fire of old pallets. Our sincere condolences from both of us to all Sam’s family.
